Nas/Home Server

Sup /g/,
I'm in the process of replacing an old netburst xeon based workstation that I use to store/stream media. I also need it to host an old runUO shard until the playerbase inevitably dies out.
I want something small and power efficient so im considering two options. Either I go all out and get one of those 8 core avoton boards or cheap out with an AM1 build. Will an athlon 5350 be enough in my case? Any sensible opinions would be appreciated.

Pic related its the case I will be using.

Do you know of any non "NAS" cases with hot-swap bays that aren't overpriced?
>>
>>45337855

Just get a tower case and stick hot swap bays in it no?

Well 4 5.25" drive bays would add at least 40$ to the case if a get the cheapest ones. It would still be cheaper I give you that. Thing is I really want to go mini-itx for this build.

Is there any cheap mini-itx motherboards that can support lga1150 xeons?

It's enterprise gear, but it runs at home.

What do you use it for? How much do you pay for internet?

What >>45338395 pays for internet isn't the question. What is the electrical bill?

Goddamn. What is each box used for?

>256GB of RAM
Jesus, that thing must have been a pretty penny.

I've also been on the hunt for something a bit newer. My current home nas is simply for backup. A mirrored disk setup.

I'd quite like to find a really nice small solution that only supports 2.5 inch disks. Can't seem to find anything just right though. I'd be prepared to have more bays if it was still small though.

What are you good 2.5" hard drives for a server?
>>
>>45338927

Depending what you're doing and how mission critical the server is would determine the drive type but if you go for some of the enterprise class 10-15k rpm SAS drives they can get extremely expensive very fast

It's not really critical, but the server is serving web pages and will be on 24/7.
