Why don't these guys have serious shoulder width even though they can OHP 400+ regularly?
Does something about shorter collar bones help them, like short biacromial width? It wouldnt seem so, the further your shoulder is from you center body mass the more power you generate right?

I think the 'wide shoulder' aesthetic is created mainly by a tapered waist; something that is definitely NOT preferred in strong man.
Ideally you have to be built like a brick shit house to be competitive. That means having a wide thick core (well developed obliques as well).

Strongmen have huge traps due to the tremendous amount of carrying and overhead work they do. Thought experiment: Photoshop away a strongman's traps to something resembling the proportions of a bodybuilder or powerlifter and you will see the frame is actually rather wide.

The bodybuilders have delts filled with scar tissue from oil, and the pictures you see of them they are doing a "front relaxed" pose. They flex their lats and rest their triceps on them. This pushes their delts out further. Bodybuilding is about illusion.
The other reason that strongmen don't look as wide in pictures is that they have wider waists, bigger core muscles, and tend to have a longer torso due to their height. This takes away from the "V" taper.
In person Pro strongmen have incredibly wide shoulders. They are overall much larger, taller and bigger framed than bodybuilders. If you put in all the oil and site injections bodybuilders use into the strongmen and dieted them down to 6% bodyfat and showed them to do a propper front relaxed, then they would probably be twice as wide.
Kaz looked pretty fucking wide at the shoulders to me. Keep in mind he has a long & wide waist too, and even still his shoulders look wide as fuck. Not idea what OP is on about. Maybe just pissed that being strong is getting more popular than just looking strong?
Kas was also 6'3" and 320 with abs back in the 1990s.

strongmen need MORE stablilty so they then to tuck in their scapula more often

i dont think they have narrow shoulders per se, mostly just that their torsos are so developed that it proportionally overshadows their shoulder width.
if you see them in person or standing next to other people, you'd probably marvel at how wide they are
