I want to get into tricking, but it kinda seems like a meme sport. Will it get me any gains, or is it cardio? And it looks like it doesn't have any real-life benefits, except for showing off

gains? maybe a little but no where near as much as working out
cardio? maybe a little but no where near as much as actual sustained exercise
the only thing it will get you really is better at tricking. if that's something you want go for it, if you want gains and cardio gb2 the gym.

You'd be better doing TKD or gymnastics to be honest. Tricking is just a combination of the two but both TKD and gymnastics have far superior benefits to exclusively tricking.
