My grip gives in first when doing deadlift, especially when doing low weight high reps, and I'd rather strengthen it and keep doing overhand grip than switch to mixed grip.
Is there ONE isolation kind of exercise that I can start doing and progress on to help with that?
I do U/L split and I can't fit any more than that in my workouts.

What's a usual progression like on farmer's? Do I start with the heaviest weight right away and try to increase my steps every time, or start intermediate and move up in weight after I reach X amount of steps?

If you're serious about increasing your deadlift it'll be impossible to keep your grip up enough. Just use double overhand until too heavy and switch to mix grip then.

I use mix grip for all my heavy sets. I still can pull 405+ with double overhand. But it's nearly impossible to hold onto 600.

You could always try doing hook grip. I tried but don't feel like always taping my thumbs and having it hurt. I worked up to 500 easily with hook grip but it also felt like my thumb was about to be permanently injured

Why are you doing low weight high reps on DL?
>>

probably because he can't hold high weight, this is literally what this thread is about.

Because not every program is 1x5 DL once a week or else you'll hurt yourself SS meme.
I'm not on an actual program right now but even when I was doing candito there were weeks with 4x8 at low weight programmed.

Straps and dedicated grip work. Especially if you're a bodybuilder/training for aesthetics.

I like fat bar rows since the row and fat bar grip are pretty well-balanced when it comes to strength.

What's the advantage of straps over mixed grip? I never tried them.

Do you think throwing in some fat grip DL at lower weights would help at all with higher weights?

Shame they are shooped, not sure what's the point with that image going viral

less biceps tension. straps won't tear your supinated arm's biceps if you flex your wrist under load. mixed grip is too much risk not enough reward.

fat grip deads will probably help, yes.
