I take boxes off an assembly line and put them onto pallets.

Too much goddamn bending over because the lines are designed for manlets, but other than that it's pretty nice. Lots of time where I can completely zone out whilst doing the work and just let my mind wander.

Not a career though. This factory is shutting down at the end of the year, only sticking around to get a severance check then going into trade school for plumbing or HVAC.

I had a job as a gas station attendant. It was more stressful than I would have thought.

>just got off a 10 hour flight after a vacation
>8 hour shift alone
>mind goes blank and I can't process a simple task (lottery or something, cant remember)
>line-up builds
>people getting angry
>teen girls flood the toilets
Not fun

We also frequently had armed robbers, I didn't experience it myself though, thankfully.

The moments I enjoyed most were when customers (old men, mostly) went on 10 minute rants about some new policy they didn't like, and I'd pretend I gave a shit. Some ceo of a local company told me he'd make sure no company car ever gassed up at my station again. He was upset because we started charging 1$ to use the tire inflation device. I told him I'd pass his complaint to the manager, but I never did. I hope he kept his promise.

Medical student.

The cons are predictable: long hours, no money yet.

The pros:

-high level of education on human body + continuing research, able to tell truth from lies re: fitness & nutrition

-lots of motivation. My peers let their bodies go to crap for their career, they're 30, look like they're 55, and move like they're 85 in a nursing home. Every day I see fat people taking 15-20 medications, then I see their leg amputation surgeries and directly see the crisco clogging their arteries. These people give me all the motivation I will ever need.

Night time dispatcher for an oil drilling/production company.

My typical schedule is 12 hours a day, 7 days on, 7 days off. Pay isn't great. About $975 a week after taxes. My relief's husband has cancer or something tho so I've been working every day for the last 5 weeks.

That being said, I only actually work two days a week for about six hours. My boss works during the day, so I don't really have anyone to answer to. The only reason I'm there every day is on the off chance a hot job comes up (less than once a week) and I have to coordinate between our crew and the company to make sure the shit gets where it needs to be. Typically takes less than an hour.

I usually bring my Playstation and watch Netflix or play Mass Effect or some shit. I read about three books a week, and I'm starting to play with CourseRA to get a better grasp of mathematics. Also working on learning Spanish. I can sleep through the entire day if I feel like it, just gotta wake up every couple hours or so to check e-mails and whatnot and keep a radio nearby.

I really don't feel fulfilled with my job, but it's gravy. It's just a nightmare trying to find time for the gym. It's an hour transit each way plus the 12 hours there, so I haven't lifted in like 3 weeks.

Considering just learning as much as I can with all this free time, saving up money, and finishing my Engineering degree some day. I figured I'd be way further in life by 24. Still live with my damn parents cause student loans and how many people are getting laid off in the oilfield. Might just buy a few acres of rural land, build a cob house or something, and live a peaceful forest life. Or maybe both.

Thx for reading my blog :)

It's a nice gig- not too hard, hours aren't terrible, food's good.

To keep this /fit/ related there are a shit ton of rolling mountains/big hills (?) that are criss-crossed with hiking trails. Running is hella intense on those shits. Koreans also have shitloads of little fitness stations situated along their trails.

You'll get an elliptical or two, pull-up bars, dip bars, bars for elevated push ups, plates you spin on (I honestly don't know what the fuck they're supposed to do), peck decks without weights attached (Fucking worthless) and some other garbage.

I stick to the pull-up/dip/elevated push-up bars

Well that's the thing: giving them pharmaceutical drugs isn't helping them, it's profiteering.

Helping them would be getting their diet/exercise right. FWIW, I'm not talking about 5x5 and calorie counting, I'm talking high volume exercise an actual health food.

Instead, we let them eat burgers and then sell them cholesterol lowering pills, let them drink frappuccinos and then sell them diabetes pills, then charge them to get their diabetic legs chopped off.

Medicine is more horrible than most people could possibly imagine, especially since most of it is so preventable.

Because America and European economy is top notch. With the Eurocentric American capitalist mind that means "we da best #1" yet we fall short of many other standards (standard of living, education, healthcare) has an amazing economy and helps them escape poor conditions set into place by a government they were born into. Hitler was a crybaby nationalist who got extreme because Austria cucked his culture. He uses modern day Trump tactics and was into Reactionary government. He also was playing into "The sins of my fathers hurrr durr" Mein Kampf was his boohoo diary and he was destined to fail.

It's okay for me considering I'm in my early 20s. I don't plan on doing it very much longer though. The pay is okay, but nothing special. Sometimes you feel kinda cool by doing a good job, catching on to something well or doing something that you don't get a chance to do often, but overall it's a lot of sitting around waiting to deal with some bullshit that you don't want to do. People also call 911 for the stupidest of reasons and the calls that are worthwhile are few and far between.

Ultimately, if you're interested in medicine, go into nursing or be a doctor or something. There's more room for advancement and being a medic doesn't get you very far in life.

Not really. Programming is just sitting down and writing some code in any language. Software engineering is a large-scale process involving different roles including architecture, development, and testing with the intention of building a robust, sound finished product, much like other forms of engineering such as Mechanical, who similarly sit at a computer all day and put together shit virtually.

In essence, "Engineering" doesn't mean going out and getting your hands dirty trying to get a train to run again gramps

Pick one. Do you have a 4 year degree or not? If so you are an engineer, if not you are a designer.

I have engineering degree and i design HVAC systems.

Is this for a poll? I work in finance. I didn't think people around here were this educated. I thought /fit/ was mostly lurked by unqualified/low-wage workers.

Unqualified, no. Low wage, likely yes. I have a legal right to practice law in the UK but that doesn't mean I'm not currently an entry-level carer.

Why, though? I mean, I took a scholarship at Oxford, I like to think I'm vaguely academic. My impression of /fit/ has always been that the majority of users are similarly so.

As a signal officer I can tell you you are making a mistake. 25Cs are not useful at all in a garrison environment. I have Charlies in my unit but my Bravos are infinitely more useful because they get to do their job (IT support) all the time. My Charlies have learned and adapted, but damn it's gotta suck to never do your MOS.

getting CDL permit on monday and taking classes soon after.

starts at ~$40k a year and I have a friend that im doing at all with, so after we both get 1000 hours under our belts, we can be a duo and start making $~70k a year with benefits and retirement plans

eventually we'll start our own businesses with the money we save up

I don't know where you live but in Canada engineering is a regulated profession. Computer engineering implies that you're working with designing computer components which completely different than writing software. Without a limited license you legally could not work as a software engineer.

i can give a brief description of the conditions
>chemotherapy and the gut
chemo affects all rapidly dividing cells in the body indiscriminately. so not only does it kill cancerous cells, but also hair and the cells of the intestine. mucositis is the inflammation and ulceration of intestinal tissue in response to mucositis and can be an important limiting factor in patient treatment and outcomes because it obviously effects their quality of life. so part of my research is looking into ways to improve these outcomes
>microbiome and permeability
a lot of people underestimate the importance of the gut microbiome which can have a profound impact on many body processes including immune function, metabolic and neurological diseases. intestinal permeability also has a profound effect on disease, as bacterial translocation can contribute to local and systemic inflammation. both the microbiome and permeability are impacted by diet and conditions like obesity, crohn's and coeliac diseases. so i investigate ways to improve permeability and how the microbiome contributes to these diseases

Not like it matters when I'm a friendless virgin with no social life or even any real social skills. I guess I'll just work until I die alone and give my money to my brother or something.

Clinical lab manager. Just got the job five months ago.

My employees are all dumbass Peurto Ricans and I hate all of them. They're lazy, way behind in continuing education, completely disrespectful, and have no regard for patients' health. I'm about to start hiring a lot more people and getting rid of these fucks. The old management completely ran this lab into the ground and I didn't realize how much of a shit show I was getting into.

>QC records a fucking mess
>Multiple machines inoperable and poorly maintained
>Out of date reagents/supplies EVERYWHERE
>So little knowledge of the science behind what they're doing
>Prior audits came back so bad the lab nearly got shut down
>Techs being rude to other staff members for no reason
>Cleanliness is completely absent

I can't fucking wait to see all these old techs get scared as I hire in younger and smarter replacements.

I've been so stressed trying fix this shit that I haven't gone to the gym in two and a half months.

Yeah, some are terrible and don't get that just because they have space for backstock doesn't mean they have to use it. They just use it as a way to move more product in that sits for months. We've started declining shipments because of it, they have to credit out all the backstock to get new stuff in. Never had that issue with frito.
