Ffs compounds are not enough for a stronger and more defined core. If I had the option I would go back in time and work on my abs before even starting compounds, just because you need a good base core strength to preform compounds with good form.
Compounds can improve core strength but if you have a shit core and just continue to lift heavy compounds, you're setting yourself for injury.
Weighted planks, hanging leg raises and Russian twists are all good options to complement what you might already be getting from compounds.
