Just curious how often should someone work abs, i've seen a lot of people saying they either: they don't work abs at all, they throw a set of abs in after their main workout or they have a consistent ab day in their workout.

Which one should I do.

inb4 squats and deads are enough for abs.

I think he's leaning forward to take a sip of his drink actually.

I always toss 15-20 minutes of abs into my daily routine. Usually at the end of my workout, but sometimes i'll do them if i'm waiting for some equipment to open up.

Is he drinking a pre or postworkout.

I see a lot of people say stuff like that but i have no idea if it's actually a good idea or not, should abs be worked everyday or only once/twice a week?

I usually isolate abs with russian twists, or back extensions.

You should really have a day for abs. There a postural muscle so the stronger the better. I think planks are one of the most underrated ab exercises.
>>

Ab isolations are for people who dont push press or overhead squat.

Only ab work i do is stomach vacuums. Only ab work i recommend is ab wheel, but that is only if you have a good excuse to not push press

I noticed a fast and substantial improvement in their strength and aesthetic when i went from twice a week to daily with mine. My argument is that you use your abs all day to remain upright, so you need to to dedicate workout time to REALLY work / grow them.

my daily routine:
8x8 weighted crunches (there are machines for this)
3-4 x 8 weighted leg lifts (best done on a bench)
3 x 16 russian twists

on cardio days, i add two additional ab exercises:
3 x 4 mins weighted planks
4 x 16 weighted decline sit-ups

I am pretty sure op meant a strength exercise, not a conditioning exercise

Anyone who says otherwise is DYEL and weak

OP here sorry 4chan went down for me for a while so couldn't keep reading the thread.

I think my original post highlights the main problems with the answers in the thread there's a lot of people who think working abs often is a good idea and some people say it's not necessary. Personally I am going to start doing planks and hanging legraises every morning before I start my day.

I've heard :
> Daily they don't recover fast enough
> twice a week is the sweet spot

Guess it's different for everyone

As often as you like, but not the day before heavy squats or deadlifts.

This has always been my rule for abs and it has been good to me.

That being said, I don't really do ab isolation anymore, and work my core almost exclusively from compounds.
