Anyway, my goal is to just cut weight and look reasonably fit. I don't want to be built like a brick shithouse, neither do I want to look DYEL. Like I said, just toned. My meme physique answer would probably be close to Brad Pitt in Fight Club (sorry for the cliche)
I was wondering if I can tone up just by swimming. Currently I do about 1km a day, which is .8miles or so I think, but only for 3 days so far.
Is this too much, how often should I rest? Is 4 times a week enough?
In which intervals should I increase the 1km figure?
Does it make a difference how fast I swim? Currently I can do 1 km in about 16 minutes

Mike Patton used to live on an island just off Madagascar - during his forest revival efforts - and he would swim 10km a day just to get to the gym, on the days where there was low tode he often was able to get PRs in the major lifts.
