Yo, /fit/, let's talk lifting belts
>Do you wear them?
>What exercises do you wear them for?
>Is there an 'acceptable' amount for you to be lifting before it's considered okay to wear a lifting belt?
BONUS QUESTION
>Are lifting belts a meme?
>>
>>37109251

Yes
Anything with heavy core loading where I'm going above 85% or so, unless I've got a specific reason not to
No. Just don't buy one right off the bat - its like any gear, make sure you actually like the activity enough to get some use out of it before you splash out.
>>
Yes
Squat and deadlifting
unwritten rule is anything about 100 kg = belt

>are they a meme
:¬)
>>
>>37109307
above 100kg, i meant to say
>>
>>37109307
3+ plate squat is acceptable to use belt.
5+ deadlift also

Gtfo with your lmao2plate

yes, for squats when i get above ~ 80% of working weight. i go atg and it helps me keep good form. use for deads and OHP too depending if i feel like it.

they're a meme if you wear them to protect your back, that's not what they're for

Read http://strengtheory.com/the-belt-bible/ and then disregard whatever /fit/ says. Most people here don't even lift.

>disregard whatever /fit/ says

this is pretty sage advice for any topic

>Is there an 'acceptable' amount for you to be lifting before it's considered okay to wear a lifting belt?
133.563357 exactly. Not a stone, oz or kg less.
>>
I don't use a belt but anything involving wrists i use wraps for. Even if I'm just curling 90lbs i use them.
>>
Only use them for deadlifts now. Used to only do no belt and double overhand. Got 3plate for 9 like that. Tried with a belt and got 330 for 11.
>>
>>37109251
i don't use them at all. i squat 3 plate and deadlift 4.5. i don't see a point in using assistance for lifting since i don't really plan on competing.
>>
I wear a belt for squats, DL, RDL, and occasionally OHP. Regardless of weight. Great for core work.
