My boyfriend is 6"4 and his Si Gung tells him not to get too big because it might slow him down. He's just got brown belt black tag and is very attentive and just as good as his peers at black belt. He doesn't want to get too huge though which saddens me. Pic is him. Ignore them, be muscular and a good fighter.

while I'm no BJJ practitioner a lot of black belters actually become complacent when they reach that level because they feel like they have no reason to improve anymore which is pretty sad really.

Just look up any professional BJJer and you'll see that they all lift. I think its only the pasty nerds that get into it as some fantasy power trip who take issue with people claiming muscle and strength helps.
