I finally did it. I got the damn one plate OHP.

What has /fit/ accomplished recently?

Most recent was a 455 deadlift during one of my leanest periods at 154 lbs a couple months back.

Currently working towards 3x5 225 lbs bench (currently 160 lbs bodyweight). Been doing 220 3x5 for two weeks now.

A shame I still don't look like I even lift. GF says I do so it may be the dismorphia talking but I also don't trust her judgment.

Don't neglect your entire core in general. You'd be surprised how much better your heavy deadlifts go if your core is super stable. Likewise with grip. If your hands are getting rekt when you go heavy, your grip or technique is likely lacking.

Star training push press

I stalled at 125x5 (or 135x3). And literally just subbing out ohp for push press 2 training days was sufficient to break through.

Also, try working with your 3rm instead of 5rm.

Muscular endurance is easy to achieve, so if you are struggling with strength, focus on that, then come back to ndurance later,min stead of trying to play the middle ground.

Also, really focus on anchoring down the "four corners" of your feet. Clenching your glutes, and bracing your abs.

This helps immensely in preventing power from"leaking out" of your kinetic chain

My last powerlifting meet PR's were SQ 518, BP 325, DL 535. I designed a workout plan to hit those for reps in 16 weeks. Right now I am 9 weeks into the program, right on pace. Last Friday I got SQ 2x3 485, BP 2x3 310, DL 5x1 505. Feels good when progress is planned for and happens

I did 275 5 reps the other day, felt good, just the right amount of total cns surge and weight with the struggle.

I'm in the same boat, have mild lordosis (hyper lower back arc and stomach sticks out). I'm focusing on stregthening lower lats with rows pulling in toward rib cage. Back Ext with a 25lbs weight held behind head.

Also, did front squats today and felt a burn all in through the lower back.

I saw this bear mode looking dude at my college gym who was wearing a shirt for our med school (ranked pretty high actually).

He loaded up 2 plate in the squat rack and I was thinking "I can't tell but I bet he has chicken legs for squatting that 2 plate. Hell, I can do that."

Then he fucking OHP'd 2 plate for clean reps. Holy shit. Up to that point, I saw ONE guy OHP 1 plate once. 2 plate was stupid strong in person.

I hit 2playt OHP a month or two ago. Lot of layback though.

I also clean and jerked 300 lbs. That was fun. And PR'ed deadlifts at 500 lbs

Get a decent belt and learn how to hold you back in extension.

Unless you have a REALLY long torso, if you're doing it right to start with, you really shouldn't need to worry about strengthening your back more than deadlifts already do until you get in to staggeringly heavy weights.
