about 1250 calories
you can do it and still be hungry afterward, almost like water. it doesn't fill you up or cost as much as a mass gainer and you don't need protein powder on it either. it might hurt your stomach but i got over that within like 3 days

i don't think you can really gain anymore muscle after a certain amount of a surplus so it starts to become unnecessary. someone could probably give a better answer
