1 pl8 after 5 months lifting, 2 of which on a cut and another two with horribleass form squatmornings. In 3 months I got up to 75kg but did a big deload to tighten up my form. Probably need to go up in weight but I've been autistic as fuck about getting perfect form after bruising my rib repeatedly when I had bad form. It wasn't until my 5th month that I realized that I was exhaling completely in the hole and where my feet need to be when I'm doing highbar.

I can only speak from my experience but all I ever do is squat. Never leg press, never do lunges or anything of the sort, just squat.
I don't often go above sets of 5.

I just pick a program that has me progressing weekly and I stick to it. It's that simple. Don't make your own program.

If you can't progress weekly then try a new program.

training for 5 months consistently, before that doing sporadic brosplit now and then.

question: when did you find it necessary to start using a belt for squatting? I haven't been using one and have been doing fine, making consistent gains as per 5x5 (I know I know). How will I know that I need to start using a belt?
>>
>>36971722
I use a belt when the weight gets near my 1RM, or I can tell I'm tired and my form is starting to go
If you're doing it right, you shouldn't NEED a belt for sets of 5

If you're worried about your technique slipping because the weight is heavy, put on a belt or deload until you can nail that weight

Are all of you new or what? In the /fit/ survey from some months back the majority of respondees were squatting between "2 and 3 plate", or 225-315lbs. Only about 15% of respondees, if I remember correctly, could squat over 315lbs, and maybe 5% responded that they squat over 405lbs. Now suddenly over half the guys in this thread are claiming they can squat 405+.

I call e-statting on everyone that hasn't posted a webm or gif of themselves.
>>
>>36975867
Or people with unimpressive numbers don't feel the need of posting ITT. Basically, using this thread as a survey tool would not be smart due to multiple statistical biases, all of which I forgot the names. I think one is called voluntary response bias.
