I know a coach who does not introduce deadlifts to his trainees in their first year of training. They do only squats. Is he right?
>>

I dunno. What is he training them for and what sort of squat does he use?
>>
He's an idiot.
>>
>>36919091
That... sounds odd. Like >>36919103 asked, what sport are you training for? I can't think of any that wouldn't benefit from the deadlift.

Maybe I was wrong when chose word "coach". He is fitness/bodybuilding instructor, his workouts consits of bench, OHP, pull ups, back squats, barbell rows, 3-5 sets, 5-10 reps

Deadlifts are actually seldom done by elite lifters. They are a good exercise for sure, but it's not as all-important as some people here claim.
>>
>>36919212
great advice coach i'm sure this is worth $100/hr
>>
>>36919091
Probably because he doesn't wanna send anyone to snap city

Not using conventional deadlifts right off the bat isn't unusual in trainers, even strength-based ones (I know a couple of powerlifting and strongman gyms that start out trainees on something very similar to AllPros routine).

Not replacing it with some sort of RDL or similar is unusual though.
>>
no, he is not right, and they miss out on a whole year of deadlift training because of his stupidity.
>>
>>36919091
This is his trick to keep the customer training after his routine gets stale.
>>
>>36919311

Right. While Deadlift is regarded the king of exercises it's actually a jack of all trades. It trains an lot of muscles at once but for every muscle there is actually a better exercise if you wanted to train them isolated.

Plus Deadlifting is a rather complex exercise so I wouldnt actually recommend it for beginners

Huh
>>

Weird not to have rdls, long stride lunges, or use a hack squat machine.
The glutes and hamstrings can handle way more intensity than he's programming.
>>
>>36919583
how is it complex, though?

get your stance right, straight bar path and activate glutes above the knee when you lock out. that's really all.
>>
>>36920283
>get your stance right
Because people are retarded
>>
>>36919583

I see way more people fucking up squats than I do deadlifts. Hell, even a proper bench rep is far and few in between.

Deadlift = straight back pick up weight for the most part. Shit I would actually start with diddles easily.
>>
realistically it'd probably make no discernable difference unless you specifically wanted to get into lifting to powerlift.
>>
>>36920339

I fucked up more shit with deadlift than squat for sure.
But then again this wasn't until I hit 250kg + on DL. Squats never broke past 240kg, once I hit 290kg deadlift I fucked my back up for a long time.
Which put me out of squats.
Left me with bench, bench with proper form is easy, it's easy though because it's easy to practice more often. It's hard to bring yourself to deadlift 200kg + ngl you feel like you need to shit doing it, squats are okay. Just boring.
