What is optimal height? If I could choose, I'd be 6'1". Tall enough to be entry level tall but good proportions. Doesn't run into practical problems like airplane legroom etc. Pretty much optimal for most sports, maybe not apehoop.

Yeah, 6'1-6'2 range is what I consider optimal. 6'1 is just what I find to be the best happy medium.
Girls won't date you unless you are at least an inch or so higher than them when they are in their highest heels.
For most girls this will be about 3 inches, the god tier girls will want to wear 6 or more because their legs tend to be stronger, unless they are really tall (for a girl that's above 5'9).. in which case unless you know you are tall you will never make it.
Average girl is around 5'6 .. so to make it you need to be above 5'9.. so 5'9 and lower most fems would regard as manlet.

My buddy was an all state in high school (offensive tackle). 6'3, 280lbs, huge beard, biggest dude in high school. Gets a scholarship to play football, shows up and is by far the smallest dude on the offensive line. The starting tackles are 6'8 315lb nignogs. He's the only linemen who is <6'5. These are the guys he hangs out with. My buddy went from being biggest man in the county to mini-man in his squad.
But for all practical purposes I'd say anything south of 5'7 is gonna put you in the realm of manlet, barring residency in southeast asia.
