well I think it's about time I tried to deadlift again.

I've always thought the deadlift progression was RDL -> trap bar -> sumo -> conventional

does anyone have an opinion on a better way to do this?

Just do deadlifts.
Do them from blocks or from the rack if you can't bend down far enough without rounding your back.

I have 2 herniated discs in my lower back so I just do RDLs since I can't lift comfortably from the ground. I could do conventional if raised a few inches.
