I'm doing a PhD and if I don't go to the gym regularly I stop being able to sleep. It's the worst of both worlds.
>>
>>36807609
Why would you assume I'm not doing both? There are people who think everything is black and white, and that you belong to either extreme faction of athletics/academics. I'm not sure I can understand the mentality. Whatever happened to the idea of moderation and balance between the various aspects of life?

going to the gym takes between 4 and 12 hours a week depending on your routine. it's not like playing video games 16 hours a day m8

>>36807918
Because women are more likely to focus on things like muscle than intelligence, and this kind of hate has been brewing in weakfag minds since puberty. Alternatively, the artists were bullied by strong people in their childhood.

Eventually, this became a trope, and even people who don't really have a problem with strong people started incorporating it into their work, and here we are.

literally everybody who says this is in horrible shape, has serious health problems, is stupid and uneducated because they lack the discipline to actually learn anything longer than a 45 minute documentary. And they watch 5hrs of TV a night.

You can have both dumb ass. In fact you would be dumb not to lift if you're smart. Not easy to gain intelligence but damn if it isn't easy to slowly put on mass.

I workout for 45 mins every second day. It doesn't take much to get a fair bit stronger than the average guy. I have the advantage of being small most of my life, so all of my friends think of me as huge due to the transformation, but in reality I look average with clothes on.

If I waste time on anything, it's on video games.

The gym closest to me closed right after I bought a membership, so I'm going to have to start lifting tomorrow. My question is, is it true that the gym helps you with this kind of stuff? I've always had trouble with my grades starting with high school, and that's around the time I quit playing soccer, stopped exercising, and started going outside less and less. I've noticed that my memorization skills are getting bad, which sucks because I want to be an actor but that can't happen if I can't memorize my lines. Would lifting make this stuff easier to retain and internalize? Also side note, I noticed when I sleep better that I can remember things easier and my acting doesn't seem as contrived.

It's kept alive by high school, people who play sports are more likely to be fit and not as big on their studies, while the nerds never leave the house and focus on the only thing they might have going.

It's pretty old though. You have Noble Dandys who never work a day in their life but have a decent education, and hard-working peasants who are strong but illiterate, so much so that strength was seen as buffoonish. There's obviously outliers in this, but when people have to judge on first impressions those are the usual archetypes.

>>36808355
Before I started lifting I was depressed as fuck. As a result my grades slipped and I couldn't motivate myself to do anything really. Lifting clears your thoughts, improved your mood and gives you the confidence to say "if I could lift the weight of a small human over my head, certainly I can do [some task that seems trivial in comparison].
>>
>>36808396
Damn, depressed as fuck with low grades is kind of how I am right now. I'm still in high school, senior, but I'm taking a drama class and hopefully the gym will help me with this stuff, as well as the memorization and better control of my body for acting and social situations. Thanks for the reply, I'm gonna hit that gym tomorrow, and eat better because I assume that can change your mood for the better to cut out all junk food.

I personally somewhat regret spending time reading books. If I could go back in time I would not read anything beyond necessaries for school and university.
Especially the short sightedness I got from excessively reading novels during childhood makes me rage at myself.

Right? Especially when it'S POINTLESS.

Look faggot, you're WASTING your time. There is NO point in EITHER bulking OR cutting. Hell, there's hardly ANY point in lifting PERIOD. Do you think Chad spends HOURS in the gym? You think he WORRIES about eating that PIZZA? NO.

Chad doesn't give a FUCK. Because at the end of the day, it's all about THREE SIMPLE THINGS: HEIGHT. FACE. FRAME.

If you're SMALL or SHORT or UGLY there is NO FUCKING POINT for you to lift, LMAO. Just STOP already and QUIT wasting your time. There is literally NO REASON, alright, you will ALWAYS be a fucking gymcel, so just STOP.
