All of my workouts are calisthenics and bodyweight based with the occasional heavy lifting session.

Find your max
Divide that by three
Do that number multiple times a day at random times. No fewer then three times.

Alternately look up "Greasing the groove" and the jailhouse fitness or whatever it's called.

Max?
I don't usually max on anything. I usually stop when the lactic build up gets to a certain point then move on to another exercise.

My workouts are usually about building the lactic acid up to a point but not going so hard that I'm super sore the next day nowadays.

Before I used to go at in one of 4 exercises till It was physically impossible to do another or I was too exhausted then move onto another exercise. When I did all 4 I would rest for 30 seconds or till I caught my breath and do it all over again.

It kicked my ass but it produced amazing results.

Gained any weight? I don't know. I looked better in the mirror and felt like a million bucks.
I was more noticably cut too.

But I'm also like..60 pounds over weight and at near 300 pounds doing some of the slightly advanced stuff I was doing at the amount I was doing would have produced results no matter what.

Sorry I'm a bit sleepy and it's been a long day, so I might read like I'm rambling.

Anyway, high reps, and using more advanced movements like pike pushups one arm pushups bodyweight tricep extensions full bridges one arm chinups etc etc will produce amazing results.
