Is sodium content a meme?

It's a fucking meme. You only need to watch it if you have kidney problems or you're dehydrating yourself before a show
>>

Absolutely. If you live in a place where you have unlimited access to clean water, it is most definitely a meme.
>>
No, sodium intake >1000-1500mg is undesirable for many reasons.

Ah yes, the reasonable argument that too much salt might kill you for reasons know by correlation, while ignoring that too little salt might kill you for other reasons know by correlation. And that the too little range actually overlaps with the too much range.

More like many lines of evidence including various experimental models relevant to humans, while ignoring Salt Institute-funded methodologically bankrupt epidemiological studies that anyone with a functioning brain / some science education can see through.

If you get colon cancer and they remove your colon you can eat as much salt as you want because you won't absorb much of it anymore.
>>
The primary "reason" people are told to reduce salt is blood pressure, but there are FAR more effective ways to lower blood pressure, such as removing processed food and not being a lazy fat-ass. Those methods are actually proven to prevent disease, versus salt reduction which reduces blood pressure without healing disease.

Like so much of medicine, it's cart before the horse. Heal the disease, not only the symptom.

for dipshits who failed biology, maybe

just fucking hydrate. If you keep pissing you release excess salt
>>
Doesn't increased sodium lead to a higher retention of water weight, hence a net weight "gain"?

You'll get water retention if there is some deficit in kidney function impairing pressure natriuresis (which high salt intake can cause over time). This increases blood and lymph vessel volume the most, but ECM can also break down and cause mild edema.
