Only time I do this is when I get to the gym and a power rack is not being used. I sit my happy ass in front of it and do all my warm-up. I have lost racks too many times because I was stretching in another area.

There's nothing wrong with mixed grip (fundamentally, your choices for heavy deadlifting are mixed, hook or straps - all have disadvantages) but using it for 135 suggests you have a grip issue.

Funny you mention imbalance. I start using mixed grip at 3pl8 and actually switch which hand is over and which under every set. I don't know if it actually helps, but I haven't noticed imbalance

People will generally suggest you should double-overhand the sets that you can and switch to mixed whenever you're at a weight that isn't going to be easily gripped overhand.

There's some situations where that isn't the ideal, but its the default approach.

It helps, because if you're consistent with your form the imbalances from both cancel each other out. This only works if your lifts end up to be an even number at the end of the day though, 1x5 for example would net you one more of whatever you started with and because the muscle repair, your nutrition and your rest periods are different each day it could still cause imbalance if for example you got more sleep and protons on a day where you ended with left flipped and the next time got less sleep and protons when you ended with right flipped. Probably a negligible imbalance though unless you have a disastrous sleep schedule and nutrition issues
