What's the ultimate sport to transition from powerlifting to? Wrestling? Brazillian jiu-jitsu?

I want to start doing a sport, but I want to take advantage of the strength i've gained from powerlifting. What are good sports to do if you're stronk as fuark?

Wrestling exercises all your muscles, and you're basically flexing for a full five minutes. It's exhausting; I'd recommend it if you really have gains that are of some substance.

From experience, don't go into BJJ with the intention of using your strength.

What will happen is, the trainers will get mad at you for muscling out of everything and people won't want to roll with you because they don't want to get hurt when they want to drill technique.

The other side is, you'll literally be useless and if you were to go into comp thinking you could muscle your way out of everything, you'd get smashed by people who actually know what they are doing.

BJJ is fun, but don't go into it thinking of it like power lifting, no one will like you.

As a past wrestler, wrestling is an endurence sport, but you wont look like that guy just from wrestling your whole life, ive seen people who wrestled there entire life and never lift, they look like sticks but there some of the most athletic people out there

>grappling martial arts
>complain when stronger people beat you
>"technique matters over strength practice technique not strength"
>get butthurt when aesthetics lifters pull more bitches than scrawny "technique" man

This is the problem with martial arts technique cucks. They bitch about everything if it doesn't "follow da rulez"

strength absolutely helps BJJ get the fuck out.

Judo or Sambo would be a better transition if OP wants to keep being strength oriented but butthurt technique fags really need a reality check

As a person who took bjj for 5 years I can tell you know absolutely nothing about it.

Bjj is literally using your enemies strength against them.

Any good jui jitsu spar is like a game a chess.

Not who can beat who into submission.

I've gotten guys bigger than me into submissions easily.

Once I went from a triangle choke to a leg sweep arm bar because this huge guy tried to pick me up and slam me.

He tapped out really quick.
>>
Wrestling is endurance crazy
since you'll do it casually as a hobby you'll be able to just enjoy the sport, and it is fun to learn how to grapple, and be grappled
Wrestling competitively.....I hated dealing with cutting, starving, sauna suits to make weight, anyone who really enjoys doing this has a strong mental game
>>
>>36493943
Yeah I'm sure you did, I bet youre the most badass dude around.
>>
>>36493943
>bigger
>size

I said nothing about size. Cherry picking extreme examples large people who don't know what the fuck their doing makes your case weaker.

I've seen plenty purples and blues get raped by white belts with like a year of training who were much stronger and more athletic than them.

I know your "use your strength against them" philosophy feeds your ego and makes you feel better about yourself when meatheads blow loads inside girls way out of your league but the reality is strength and athleticism matters a lot more than you think in any physical competition.
>>
>>36493870
I wrote what I wrote because I was the stronger person who had to learn not to be a fuckwit and use my strength constantly.

Muscling out of everything teaches you nothing. You'll see a huge difference when you come up against someone who is of equivalent strength, but who took the time to learn the technique.
>>
>>36493943
>using your enemies strength against them

Nobody who has trained for 5 years would use that phrase unless they are legally retarded. You're lying.
>>
>>36493989
I always found the prospect of wrestling someone bigger than me far more intimidating than doing what I have to do to cut weight. Maybe it's more that I had a weak mind back then. Now for bjj competitions I don't even bother to cut weight.
>>
Former wrestler here, it's gay as fuck. Hated it.

You fags would like it
>>
>>36494005
>Muscling out of everything teaches you nothing.

Real talk. Nobody but the dumbest fuckwits do this. Nobody. I'm assuming OP knows he obviously has to learn BJJ technique but to misguide him and say his strength won't help him is absolute fucking bullshit

>You'll see a huge difference when you come up against someone who is of equivalent strength, but who took the time to learn the technique.

Congrats on proving my point.

Strength alone = scrub
Technique alone = ok
Strength + technique = alpha domination

Strengh matters. Go up against someone your skill level who is also stronger than you. I'll upload the video on /gif/ for lulz.

You strength won't be much of an advantage in any sport that have weight classes.

In Rugby or Handegg you'll play a lot of people smaller and weaker than you, so I say go for that if you just want to crush weaklings.

>Daryell was raped by about 20 prisoners. He had injuries all over the body, the most serious ones in the anal region. Insatisfied, and still furious about the crime committed by the professor, the prisoners tore apart the stitches that he received and raped him again. The blood stains on the rear of the short of the young man are proof of how much he suffered.

Can we let the technique meme die? Strength and conditioning matters.
>>
>>36494004
This dude knows what he's talking about.

>>36493943
This dude doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.

Strength and speed absolutely matter in BJJ. Look at all the best guys right now: Andre Galvao, Buchecha (Almeida), Kron Gracie, Marcelo Garcia (not anymore, but still).

All these dudes are physical specimens or known to be freakishly strong or fast.

With even a slightly close level of technique, the strong/faster guy will win.

So I'm planning to take up wrestling in the fall, besides lifting what else can I do to prepare?
>>
>>36496478
Lots of running, neck exercises and flexibility work.
>>
>>36496603
>>36496478
Also don't forget to do your push ups and basic gymnastics/tumbling(cartwheels etc.)
>>
>>36496603
So just find any running guide and follow that?

>>36496617
Well I do like 30 pushups in the morning, should I just stick to those or should I do progressively harder ones.

Where should I learn gymnastics? And how do they help me wrestling?
>>
OP, don't underestimate how much cardio is involved in wrestling. In fact I must say, there's no ultimate sport to transition from powerlifting because powerlifters have absolutely atrocious cardio and every relevant sport involves far too much of that.

Sorry to tell you this, but you will have to learn everything from scratch.

get used to grabbing other guy's junk and it not being gay but really being really really gay.
>>
>>36497560
>getting hurt on a monthly basis is a sport
>>
>>36496313
I used to have a big 280lbs powerlifter in my gym, when I rolled with him there was very little things I could attack him with

His neck was huge and short so it was very dificult to choke, and trying to armbar him always resulting in him curling my body. Wristlocks and the ocasional triangle was the only thing I could get and it was just because he was a uber noob.

Granted, I was only an experienced blue belt at the time and weighted 135lbs.

Manhandling average sub-200lbs dudes with no grappling experience it's another thing though. Their natural reliance on strength and instincts are literally a disadvantage.
>>
>>36493059
Wrestling is an intensive sport, where strength is very much valued.

In BJJ there is literally a stigma against strong/big guys.

I find the second more fun but your mileage may vary
>>
>>36494495

>brazil

a bunch of fucking monkeys down there I mean really
>>
>>36493943

If you fight against a bigger, stronger version of yourself, who would win?

Strength matters.
>>
>>36494180
>stalling faggots

I lol'd I use to wrestle in high school but had to quit because lol type 1 diabetes, I always envied the heavier weights being able to stall so much
>>
>>36493059
Those sports are more about endurance brah. Sorry.
>>
>>36493943
>once
>>
>>36493943

>>
>>36496313

>>
>>36493870
Muscling your way out of things is like using shitty form to lift a higher weight. Sure, you "win", but you're not going to benefit. In the context of martial arts, it means you're not going to learn anything and you might as well not be there.

If you leave your ego at the door and just learn like everybody else, fairly soon you'll have the brawn and the skill.
>>
Shot put and discus
>>
>>36493282
You can be, but a strong neck will help you bridge.

When you're on your back bridging agaisnt your opponent who's trying to pin you, there is no time limit. You're there until he pins you or you break out of his hold. You need a strong neck to keep your shoulders elevated agaisnt the pin

If you're on your stomach, then theres a time limit before the ref will stand you both back up and start you on your feet again.
>>
>>36496647
>Where should I learn gymnastics? Just do progression for cartwheels, front and back rolls, handstands, bridges(very important), headstands.
>And how do they help me wrestling?
They are part of wrestling workouts because they increase your flexibility, explosiveness and are similar to wrestling positions. Alsi there's this thing called goigle that you can use, since /fit/ isn't the best place for getting great advice, especially regarding sports.
