When I was 20 and barely above minimum wage I had thousands saved up, had friends who earnt more money than me constantly saying they were broke. They'd drink huge amounts of alcohol, eat out constantly, put cars and shit they didn't deserve on finance and live in houses they didn't deserve paying rent that they shouldn't be paying. They'd constantly go to concerts they didn't have the money for, or wear branded clothes that cost 10x the amount just for a logo.
Fast forward 5 years and I have a house nearly paid off, a nice car I paid cash for and savings in multiple investments. I still earn less than them. None of them have a house. And all of them have cars on finance.
