Going for Sandhurst. Looking for a balanced routine - strength, cardio (speed + endurance running), muscular endurance general.

Points and criticisms please. First routine I've tried to make myself, strength training based off of SS.

Which intake you on?
>>
Note:
Int. - Interval Training
Str. - Strength, of course.
End. Endurance.
Hypertrophy is only for the arm work.

Next January probably. We'll see if I'm ready by September though.

May as well wait for may if you're looking at jan, presumably you've heard Jan is the worst?

No I haven't actually. And I may do - my fitness may be pretty peak by then but there's always room for improvement. Due to the weather is it?

Least amount of regimental spots available and yeah all the honking exercises (self reliance/dynamic victory) are done in the winter

Compare that to may which has most regi spots and best weather

January is called the hero's intake for a reason

Aye. I remember a bit of that on ARRSE but very mixed views on the months - looking again now that does seem to be the majority opinion. Any points on the regime?

And I'm not referring to the Tory government.

Bear in mind I know Jack fucking shit, but that looks like too much strength work.

Most military training deals with speed and endurance with relatively light weight as those best mimic the conditions you'll be fighting in, i.e. running, climbing, crawling and swimming in full gear with a pack.

If it was me I'd be doing jogging/hill walking/cross country in the range of 5km-20km, lots of bodyweight and calisthenics, and weight training to 1/2/3/4 at most.

Still, it's almost guaranteed that however well you prepare they'll find your limit and push you beyond it. That's almost the point, after all. Don't for a moment think that all this training will allow you to get through the academy without leaving your comfort zone.

Best of luck pal. I grew up a stone's throw from Sandhurst. Give the goth chicks at The Agincourt a good fingering for me if you get any leave.

Lifting routine seems good if a little overcomplex

Calisthenics seem weak though, is a set of 15 press ups really challenging for you? Same with squats

Running looks good, if you have a decent running club neat you that does runs based in miles splits I consider getting involved with them

Tbh assuming youre not looking for paras as long as you turn up to pccbc with a sub 10 pfa and 65+ pressups situps sandhurst will do the rest. Big arms are nice but pretty superfluous

I was thinking 2:1 Endurance to Strength but I'm struggling to justify the gym subscription. Money is tight and I have a lot on so it's definitely a dilemma. Plenty of time to change routine in the future anyhow.

Will do lol.

It's all about Guildford spoons and casino for picking up rotters at sandhurst

Well biceps need to get a bit of work, and I figure hypertrophy will keep a bit of strength and build muscle for support - I'm no genius when it comes to physiology though. 3x15 is my minimum - once a few weeks in, I was looking to change this to 3x20, then 4x20. I can achieve that now, by itself however when mixed with strength training? I'm not sure how badly it will be affected.
