in the case of oral allergy syndrome, it's actually eating the food. i got an allergy test done and it only really said that i was allergic to dust and the seasons and nuts that i was allergic to (spring and autumn, hazelnuts, almonds, etc).
oral allergy syndrome is a little harder to diagnose. if your throat starts to close and your ears become really itchy all of a sudden after eating a food, you probably have it. then it's a matter of matching up your allergies to the pollen group you're allergic to. you might be lucky with grass pollen, i've got birch.
