a "workout" might only burn 300 cals, that's like one candy bar, if someone "works out" 3x per week they are only burning like one meal of food, and when all their meals are high calorie garbage they will remain fat forever

you don't lift weights to burn fat, you do it to get stronger

you don't run to burn calories, you do it to make your heart stronger and you more capable of physical endurance

walking is very efficient, you burn pretty much the same amount of calories either just sitting there typing or walking

maybe when you are just sitting around your body does things like work to digest food or create hormones or other internal body stuff, maybe when you walk around it stops doing some internal body functions and waits for you to sit down again, maybe those functions burn the same calories as walking
