About to drop $900 on a rack, bench, bar, and 250 lbs.

I've search Craig's list in the Buffalo NY and don't see anything worth jumping on.

Am I missing a plate set that would make this cheaper?

Squat stands are cheaper than squat racks, if you don't mind the reduced safety.

I found $250 weight set of 300lb incl. barbell.

The bar is surprisingly decent quality. It needs lube to properly spin, but outside of that it is a perfectly capable oly bar.. No different than the ones at my wl gym.

That was at sports authority...

I thought about that, but I'm more comfortable with the added safety at not that much more $ in the long run

Get a pair of $20 aluminum sawhorses at home depot and use them with stands. It looks retarded, but it saved my ass and I dumped 315 on them from like 12-16" up and they're no worse for wear.

Again, I'm fine with paying extra for the rack. I'm wondering if there's a widely available 300lb plate set, for example

Update: driving an hour to get murdered ok Craig'slist for $.50/lb

get a bench that can incline, I got a flat bench like that and regretted it because it's hard to work my upper pecs

Update #2:
Old dude was mad chill
Had a dozen bars sitting around, upgraded for $10
He just bought a ProSpot 2 and let me try it out (has a powered self-spot mechanism)
300lbs (including bar) for $200
Threw in some snacks and protein shakes for my drive home

9/10 experience overall

Now I just want to figure out what kind if bar this is. He claimed Weider 1000lb

Here's about what I spent on my home gym

Around let's say 90 for all materials for power rack. Built out of wood.
100 for bench and some weights. Grinded off weight holders.
99 for olympic bar.
150 for 3 45 plates. I got a deal for another 3 for 25 bucks each due to being sold out on amazon. So 225 for 45s.
I spent 100 on two seperate 50 sets. One was 2 25s. One was 4 10s and 2 5s.
10 dollars for 2 2.5s. 7 dollars for clamps.
25 dollars for perfect pullup bar. 25 dollars for dip attachment.
13 dollars for ab wheel.
40 dollars for an adjustable 40 pound dumbell set just because.

735 for everything brand new. I could have gotten wood from work for free but I couldn't wait.

That's not counting like 30 bucks in mats, and spotlights, and other random shit. Plus I was buying shit to hang my boxing bag too.

Either way I'm happy with it. I've spent way more on random shit I don't need, and I'll have this forever.

Get the hex plates. I bought the plates you have, and they're just too god damn unruly. Roll all over the god damn place.

Hex plates don't land square and thus force you to readjust every rep. Hex plates. Not even once.
>>
>>36451392
Who the fuck cares how they land? This matters for literally no lift, including deadlift. You also get the additional benefit of not having them roll all over your god damn house when you DL and more ease loading them on.

But that's just my opinion.
