I just looked into it. They surgically insert a metal bar into your chest which pushes the bone outwards and the procedure takes 2-3 years. No fucking way I am doing that! I huess ill have to live with it

I have a complete a chest gap but no one has ever commented about it.
But maybe that's because all my friends are dyel.
I've got a bit of an indentation at the bottom of my chest. I never noticed it before I had pecs and gained more weight, if it was serious a doctor would have diagnosed it, so I just have to hope when I get bigger pecs and lose bodyfat it'll go away.
If not, oh well, better than having no pecs

I have pectus excavatum too. The reason im fine with it is because i have a good physique, otherwise i would do the surgery immediately.
I plan to reach my final form and do the surgery after that, that'll be in years.

Not implying that. Your muscle fibers near the sternum are soooo small, you think they don't exist.
Get a chest pump, then cross one arm as far to the other side as you can, and flex your pec.
Now feel your sternal muscle fibers.
P.s. It is your muscle origin not insertion. The pectoral insertion is near where the bicep and deltoid meet. The origin is the sternum

I've had surgery and it's not as bad as it sounds. It's kinda annoying for first ~2 months because you need help with some things that require you to bend (tying shoes, putting on pants, getting in and out of bed...) but after that you return to normal. Also, you must strictly sleep on your back for those 2 months (it sounds horrible if you're used to sleep on side but it's something you get used to after a while.) You still won't be able to do some extreme stuff while bar is in place.

I have a slight chest gap. It used to be much worse. On top of simply doing bench press, one thing I find has been very helpful to try and close the gap is dumbbell flyes, which I know some people say is dangerous, but I recommend them.
I do my flyes on an incline, typically, lightweight, keeping arms perfectly straight, focusing on the squeeze of the chest at the top, holding it at the peak of the movement for a moment before slowly coming back down. I usually do 4-5 sets of 12-15, which sounds like retarded bodybuilder logic to many people who are just exiting the novice level, but honestly some retarded bodybuilder stuff is really useful for assistance and- unsurprisingly- for building an aesthetic physique.

Not true.
All muscles have nonspanning fibers.
Pull ups work out the lower trapezius, but no matter how hard you try, you will never build upper traps with pull ups, even within the same head, not all muscle fibers contract. Since the upper traps cannot contract under load, when doing pull ups they are not stressed, and thus will not grow.
Similarly shrugs will not grow lower traps.

It applies to individual muscle fibers.. But your nervous system is not adept at contracting ALL muscle fibers. This is why range of motion is relevant. Because the larger the ROM, the more fibers you are contracting.
Obviously not all muscle fibers span entirely from origin to instertion.. Non-Spanning Fibers are why you feel a tighter contraction at the end of a concentric movement, rather than halfway through it.
So aside from the fact that EVERY muscle can be targeted in regions, even dependent of muscle heads... Because NSFs exist..
Pectoral muscles have two innervations.
one of which primarily activates the inner chest.

Sad thing is my chest is slightly better than his. The gap isn't as wide as that but it definitely looks weird when I wear some shirts. I think I need to stop doing flat bench and really work on incline because honestly at some angle it just looks like I have tits. The funny thing is my chest looks "alright" without a shirt. I wish I could trade my ab and back genetics for even an average chest.
