Bro splits yay or nay?
I was on starting strength 5x5 for some six months and moved to a custom bro split for the purpose of giving my shoulders a rest (over use injury put me out for a couple weeks.)
However, The Golden One condemned them in a video I just watched and I'm wondering what you guys make of it.

High-volume body part split routines are utilized by already advanced bodybuilders who are running copious amounts of gear
5x5 programming has been around longer than bodybuilding or strength training because they used to basically be the same thing prior to the wider availability of steroids
The research shows that full body routines 3 to 4 times a week tend to be Optimum for natural lifters because of protein synthesis occurring within a 24 to 48 hour window for natural lifters
That being said I think a lot of guys just do body parts splits because they're easy and they give you a good pump which makes you think that you're getting bigger
Regardless you need Progressive overload to continue to grow get stronger and get bigger

The thing about gaining muscle is that its slow as shit and you need progressive overload.
The problem with brosplits (and i speak from experience) are that you never increase weight and instead do way too much exercises. I see people all the time doing 4x12 bench, then 4x12 flyes, 4x12 incline, 4x12 decline, dips, 4x12 cable flyes etc etc.
If you keep track on the weight making sure you add some every week doing compounds and a brosplit on top of that should be fine

If you can acquire enough training volume with a brosplit then you'll make progress. It's a really inefficient way to acquire training volume so mostly a complete waste of time.

Did ss for 6 months, saw none of the progress I desired. Now do Chest&Back, Bis&Tris, and Legs&Shoulders, abcxabc. Only been doing it for a short while but already noticing a difference.
