So today i decided to try front squats, just for the fuck of it

Holy shit, it felt fucking amazing

I always felt uncomfortable doing back squats, assumed it was a form problem, but noone could find anything

But doing front squats just felt right, like it was a motion the body was meant to do

If you are like me and hate back squats, try front squats just once

Completely agree with you. But you can make your back squat into more of a front squat by breaking at the knees first, allowing it to go past the knees if that's how you are built (but pay no attention to it, it doesnt matter), which will allow your back to stay more upright.

Can someone tell me how the fuck how to hold the bar when front squatting? It hurts the fuck out my wrists and shoulders. Past the point of "just push through the pain", it actually hurts.

Also worth mentioning that I can squat ATG on front squats, but can't even hit parallel on back squats. Lately I've been just skipping squats cause it's been so much of a problem.

might have shitty shoulder flexability. basically i rested it between my front delt and my clavicle and that was comfortable.

basically just used 3 fingers on each hand for minor stability, probably coulda done it without the fingers on the bar

All the other answers are wrong. The bar should rest on the anterior deltoid and the only purpose of the hand is to hold the bar in place so it doesnt roll forward, that is, the hand doesnt actually support any of the weight. If you are not cleaning the bar into place, and are squatting from a rack, try the bodybuilder's front squat, in other words, cross your hands and hold the bar with the tip of your fingers.

Literally every feels this way about Front Squats when they try them.

I can go ATG with front squats so easily but going ATG with a back squat feels like I am snapping my spine in half.

I strictly just front squat now days.

I back squat heavy one lower body day, and front squat for higher reps the next lower body day.

Maybe I'm kooky but I feel like doing front squat will teach you how to squat. My back squat seems to get better the more I front squat, even though they are different.

If you want to hit glutes and hamstrings, do a back squat. For front squat, you will eventually do weight too heavy to hold this way unless you get your knees forward and your hips under you.

Front squats are fantastic though.

Work on wrist and tricep flexibility if you have trouble holding them. Only once you've tried this for a while should you give up and use the arms crossed front squat hold.
Know that a lot of people need to jam the bar right up against their neck in order to get the bar on their deltoids.

I do my front squats with my hands like pic related. I've never squatted lowbar before, I just keep the bat situated on my traps. Highest ATG squat I did was 405lbs(183.7kg) and it was brutal. Since I started cutting they've taken a hit tho. My normal routine just consists of regular back squats, maybe do a set of 4-5 at 365lbs. Then I'll hit front squats. I haven't tried more than 225lbs for 6 or 7 reps but I really wanna try 3pl8 soon while I'm still fresh.
