I'm 5'11", 140 lb. I'm a serious runner for my uni and I'm pretty much at my ideal weight for that. I've been lifting for about two years now but it's part of the running training and barely touches upper body. Am I ever going to make it? Am I going to look worse if I ever put muscle on the right side of my body? I don't know how to work out the left side.

>>

You might need to ask your doctor if you can put muscle on, losing limbs tends to strain your heart.
Secondly the risk of injuring a rotator cuff is probably sky high.

You're probably gonna have to find a prosthetic that lets you train shoulders.
>>
>>35939253
Car accident when I was 8. I was leaning against the window, car flipped and my arm was flung out the window, got pinned under the car. I've heard of grandmas lifting a car off a kid in that sort of situation but unfortunately I was just there with my parents/siblings.

the short answer is that youd look a bit disproportionate at best.

It depends how huge you make your right side honestly.

Theres no good way i can think of to increase the left side if you cant put too much weight on the prosthetic.

shit dog. i think the only answer IS to get a better prosthetic. if you can do pushups youd be gold.
>>
>>35939342
I'll be honest with you bruv. You're pretty limited without an elbow.
All I can think of is maybe flys for your chest and lateral raises for your shoulders.
There's no dancing around the issue though, you will have an imbalance.

I'm not afraid of losing a limb anymore even if it will cost more than a luxurious car to get this.

Anyway OP, you can achieve a lot with calisthenic if holding weights is impossible to you.
>>
Hmm, I don't know.

With the amount of money you'd spend on a prosthetic, you could probably improvise some sort of harness that might counter-balance the weight of a barbell.

As you'd figure out more and more of how the muscles work you could improve on the design to work in conjunction with the mechanics of your body.

That being said, I used to know a guy who had a bad arm(think lucky fin from Finding Nemo). Anyway, he was a powerlifter and never let it hold him back. Dude could bench 275x3 and deadlift 5 plates.

What I saw him do was velcro strap weight to his hand and lift it. What I'm thinking you can try is stuff like front/back/side raises for your shoulder with no arm and flyes for your chest. Not gonna lie it's gonna be harder for you than the guy with a full non-functional arm, but if you persevere I think you have a chance. Godspeed, bro.

Hey op if your interested in training your upper body there is a way. Pretty much when you do an exercise like db press someone holds a stretch band on your other side so you mimic the movement and can add resistance. This works for the press as well as lateral raises. This way your left shoulder sne chest can be worked and you can still make gains. Best of luck you inspiration bastard.

Ps. Nice abs

Didn't convey it very well, but that's supposed to be a shelf for a barbell, so that a balanced squat might be possible. This shelf could be made of some high resistance fibreglass.

Now that I think about it, it might've been better if the shelf had some kind of bridge that goes over the shoulder to displace weight instead of just digging into the lower back. But as I said, a half-assed attempt was made.

Isometrics/dynamic tension seems like your best bet to me. Weights or bands seems like they'd be awkward and cumbersome due to asymmetry. I've done the dynamic tension and had pretty decent results from it. I hear interesting stories about the potential of Isometric type training but never took the full plunge myself. I think you could take it as far as it could go since there wouldn't be many distractions with the other training modalities.

Id give my left arm to have those abs.
Seriously, you gotta hand it to em.
I paid an arm and another arm for my equipment and didn't look half as good as OP.

....missing arm.

DESU man you gotta just focus on getting rich for now before you get fit. Then you can afford those bionic arms. Seriously ask your doctor though or see if you can attend some kind of physical therapy where they teach you exercises

Do you have any range of motion with the stump? What the hell does your tricep connect to?

If you can shadow the motion of a pull over (pic related), you should be able to build your lats and pecs over a few years time with pull overs. Particular if you can get a prosthesis that can hold 20lbs.

why would he wear the mask?

Having to wear the mask could be uncomfortable though.

Yup, it's actually a pretty great pec exercise when you consider how light you can do it. Maybe start with 5x10 with a 5lb weight and see how that feels once you figure out how to get the right leverage.

If dis is real:

You can make it if you try, maybe you can invent your own product that acts as wrist wrap/strap for deadlifts. Just keep thinking ideas, not people or things.

>>
>>35939408
we are fairly close, maybe next 5 years if progress continues. Not too long after that and we might have some computer systems in prosthetics that can correctly interpret nerve impulses and move accordingly whilst remaining portable and having long "battery life", but that will be incredibly expensive.
source: engineer, prosthetics is my job.
>>
>>35939244
Best of all OP, we are gonna make it!

I would like to say, as a non-westerner, the west is literally the best. They are united. This is why their country is literally always in the top ten. While here, shit sucks. That's because people don't give a shit about other peoples rights.
>>
>>35939244
You're lucky anon. Your arm days are going to take half the time mine take. Just get buff as fuck with your right arm and become like JAX from Mortal Kombat.
>>
>>35939244
Strap a cable machine to that bad boy and see what you can do. Could probably replicate something like an OHP and various fly-type exercises. Good luck.

Bro I feel you. I was paralyzed for four years after a work accident. A screw at a boiler in the rice refining factory that I worked exploded and broke my spine. Three years in a wheelchair and one in a cane. Good thing is that the sum of the money I received settled me as a NEET for life.

I know its not the same problem that I have but calisthenics is your ally. People were amazed on what I could do only with my arms.
