How decent is a shoulder press of 135 for 5 reps?
>>
>>35675721
depends on your weight. There are actual strength standard calculators that can answer that question.
>>
>>35675721
that's what most people on this malaysian knitting board stall at tbqh m8
>>
You need to do better then that. It's not good enough.
>>
I'm at 175lbs 6'0 and OHP 135 3x4.

decent or nah?
>>
sorry for the random question but, what is the difference between shoulder press and OHP ?
>>
>>35675885
Good for gym

Bad for fit
>>
>>35675926
OHP usually refers to barbell shoulder press standing
Shoulder press is usually referring to seated dumbbell press
>>
>>35675732
Why the fuck does weight matter? I've never understood this.
>>
I OHP 155x4 at 6'3 190lbs. Never really see anyone in gym go heavier. Good for fit or just gym?

View it like this.
A 6' 2" 250 lbs fatass walks into the gym for the first time with his 5'8" 150 lbs manlet friend.

The fatass will in most cases move more weight initially.
This in turn will cause the manlet to realize that not matter how much he trains, there's always some fatass that's gonna outperform him.

Hence, if 135 lbs babbyweight is all you can move for OHP, you're probably a manlet you should kill yourself.
>>
Regardless of bodyweight, when 135 is a warm-up set for over head press.
You have made it.
>>
I spent 4 years going to a "hardcore" gym full of meat heads and saw a genuine strict press of 135 or higher maybe 5 times ever.

I've been at a big chain gym (moved city) for the last 4 months and haven't seen a single person other than myself OHP 1-plate or higher.

People avoid OHP because it kills their ego when they can't even lift a big-boy plate per side.
So we see countless examples of seated smith press, incline press and various shoulder press machines though.

1 plate OHP for 5 reps is very good by any standard that isn't fuelled by neckbearded e-stats.

Well, its one checked off the 1/2/3/4 benchmark. Its respectable.
>>
>>35677863
And Arnold press is barbell while seated, right?
>>
>>35678205
>>35678251
Totally agree, 135lbs for reps is pretty respectable and you'll only get stronger from here on out. Seated db press is almost the same thing, just easier to cheat and requires less technique to do, so if you can rep 80+lbs for reps without shitty form, I'd say that's decent too
>>
>>35678341
I thought Arnold press was a standing DB curl and continuing up to a shoulder press but I could be wrong.
>>
>>35677863
I'm referring to OHP then.
>>
185 for 3 reps is where im at
>>
>>35675721

More than the majority of people on the planet
>>
>>35677892
because you're new
>>
>>35679390
Yea, but how many?
>>
>>35679520
at least 95 percent
>>
>>35679553
How do you know?
>>
>>35678341
>>35678488
I'm 95% sure that it's like seated DB OHP but at the bottom your palms are facing you and throughout the rep you turn your hands, ending at the top with palms facing away
>>
>>35677892
Are you actually asking this?
This is like asking why a child can't lift as much as an adult
>>
>>35677892
Bro, deadlifting 405 isn't impressive if you weigh 350 pounds. Deadlifting 405 is impressive if you weigh 115 pounds.
