Does sugar actually need to be avoided? Or should only the calories be taken into account? Kind of sucks this shit is in everything.
>>
>>35453212
Processed sugar is best avoided as much as possible.
Natural sugars in fruit and veg are fine.
It's the processed stuff that fucks with your blood glucose, fat storage, etc. (this applies to artificial sweeteners too)

>Does sugar actually need to be avoided?
Try it.

The emptycarb-jew sells the illness and the treatment. Sugar is in everything - it will make you fat and depressed. Then you can give them your shekels to 'fix' you with some pills.

(of course, we are talking about processed foods. i.e., shit. Don't eat it. Just eat foods that have one ingredient: fish. chicken. almonds. kale. carrots. you get the picture. Naturally occurring sugar is not harmful to you so don't worry about it. Eventually you can do stuff like pick sweet potatoes over white potatoes for better GI digestion. But that is pro-level stuff that can wait. for now, just don't eat processed foods. And drink only water and milk. Nothing else. That includes fruit juices. That includes orange juice. Throw it all out. Water and milk only.)

Hope this helps you get started. Watch "Fed Up" for an intro into sugar. It is a food documentary.

Yes, your body literally becomes addicted to sugar in much the same way you might get addicted to caffeine.

Natural sugars still affect your insulin levels and affect the way you gain weight. Keeping your insulin levels steady helps you maintain/lose weight. You should limit fruit and natural sugar intake to preworkout meals, and have them with something high in good fats to slow down the insulin spike. (banana with all natural, sugar free nut butter, berries with full fat yogurt)
Sugars make you feel more hungry and aren't as satisying as protein or fats.
The best sweetener alternative is Stevia. Sugar alcohols have little to no effect on blood sugar and are the best tasting sugar replacements. (Erythritol, Xylitol, Maltitol)

I'm gonna need a citation for that artificial sweetener claim

Don't mind me, just trying to give OP some reasonably sound advice. Next time I'll add some citations so people can read up on it themselves.
Don't be afraid to read them.

>Natural sugars still affect your insulin levels and affect the way you gain weight
"Natural sugars" (as in: sugars naturally occurring in fruits, milk; but not in e.g. honey or ) are completely irrelevant for the WHO, no matter the dosage. No adverse effects have ever been reported in relation to the "natural sugars"

Only "free sugars" have to be limited, absolutely <10% and possibly <5% of the total energy intake. Only "free sugars" have been linked with first world diseases like obesity, overweight risk and tooth decay.

why are processed sugars bad?

is sucrose not sucrose? im sure theres much more to it though
>>
>>35455108

Processed sugars are dumped into your bloodstream basically all at once with no way to slow it down for your body to safely digest it, as it would from natural sources. The digestion of sugars also causes dangerous reactive oxygen species to form as a byproduct, which if you were eating a natural source of sugar like fruits, would normally be neutralize by their abundant antioxidants, but processed sugars don't have this either.

Some things that sold out so far, only half way through...
>Aspartame is about 200 times sweeter than sucrose
>NutraSweet engineered neotame, which was approved in 2002 [11]. Neotame is the most potent sweetener on the market, at 7,000 times the sweetness of sucrose.
>sucralose [3]. It is synthesized from sucrose by substituting chlorine for three of its hydroxyl groups, generating 600 times the sweetness (Figure 2).
>But do artificial sweeteners actually help reduce weight?
>Surprisingly, epidemiologic data suggest the contrary. Several large scale prospective cohort studies found positive correlation between artificial sweetener use and weight gain.

"Reactive oxygen species?"
What do you mean?
Legit Q, no trolly.

The only credibly cited thing you've linked talks about sugar craving and psychology rather than actual physical effects. Try again.

Sure, but its still retarded to be eating sugar & call yourself a bawdy builder
>>
>>35455260

If you've heard the phrase "free radical," that's a kind of reactive oxygen species. It's a byproduct of metabolic processes. In high amounts, it can damage cells and DNA and contribute to various diseases

It works in terms of body composition, thats all
It will make very little difference in terms of your physique if you consume 200 calories of table sugar, honey, fruit or potatoes
However, anyone who cares about their health will avoid refined carbs as much as they can

I will cast your sins out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before in Heaven, mark my diddily-iddilly words. You think you can get away with saying that blasphemy to me over the Internet? Think again, friendarino. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of evangelists across Springfield and your IP is being traced by God right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggorino. The storm that wipes out the diddily little thing you call your life of sin. You’re going to Church, kiddily-widdily. Jesus can be anywhere, anytime, and he can turn you to the Gospel in over infinity ways, and that’s just with his bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in preaching to nonbelievers, but I have access to the entire dang- diddily Bible collection of the Springfield Bible College and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your sins away off the face of the continent, you diddily-doo satan-worshipper. If only you could have known what holy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you from the Heavens, maybe you would have held your darn-diddily-fundgearoo tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re clean of all your sins, you widdillo-skiddily neighborino. I will sing hymns of praise all over you and you will drown in the love of Christ.
