Pleb as it is, Russell's history of western philosophy. It's literally Starting Philo.
Not as good as reading the authors directly, but better than many school books.
Then find one author that intrigues you, and study him up.
Since you're here, it's a safe bet you'll like the Stoics.

It's good, it helps with the girls for sure but it's just a side effect of the book, rather than the intent.
>>35421806
Mein Kampf
>>35421806
Ride the tiger
>>35421806
Myth of Sisyphus and the Rebel by Camus. Both of them are books of essays that I highly recommend

>>35421806
Eh. Probably not what you are thinking of but I enjoyed the dune saga from frank Herbert. Great series.
Sun and steel by Yukio Mishima
The book of five rings by Miyamoto Musashi
The art of war by Sun Tzu

Are you a psychologist?

That book is more a guide or brief overview for philosophy senpai, it'll only really help if you've got a good memory for names. I'd recommend Philosophical Investigations by Wittgenstein instead, it's hard going but short and provides and critiques a lot of the logic thrown about in philosophy.

What is the main intent?
>I-is anybody looking at me?? h-has anybody noticed that im reading yet??? p-please notice that i-im reading
>>35422487
To become a confident, proactive person rather than a reactive person that has 'false confidence'
>>35421806
you can listen to audiobooks while lifting.
gym music is usually atrocious anyway.

what I've recently read and can absolutely recommend:
Righteous mind by Jonathan Haidt
Thinking, fast and slow by Daniel Kahneman
>>35422570
Righteous mind was good. Made me lol how close his research came to saying liberals are more close minded than conservatives are but he didn't want to outright admit it
My recs for OP
Storm of Steel by Ernst Jünger
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
>>35421806
Mein Kampf
>>35422516
Thank you
>>35421806
The Way of Men- Jack Donovan
Who ordered this truckload of dung by Ajahn Brahm
>>35422322
Because he slams the repetitive, dedicted habits of mankind, when aimed at some future goal. I've always read Camus as being half our late lord lemmy, and half tortured, genius moby dick. Focusing on gains seems a bit redundant

Don't you think it's kind of sad? Why play a game to find women, just find something in the world to fall in love with and women will love you for it.
>>35422301
This is a great book, and a pretty easy read, too.
>>35421822
I feel so immature for laughing at this.
>>35422965
Any link to this book? I will buy it but I don't wanna wait for it
i would stay away from nihilistic stuff. I read a lot of salinger when I was 16 and it hit me like a motherfucker and with a bit of a hectic life at the time I still haven't recovered
>>35423223
The book is not about picking up women. The title says it is, because selling books is great, it's more just about living a positive and honest version of yourself and taking you through the consequences of that, good and bad.
