Isn't deadlift a push motion?
>>35352109
Is that the Uppy-Downie?
>>35353134
Cause you're pushing the weight off the floor right!?
>>35353188
Your arms and back remain in one position. Your legs push downward and your hips push forward therefore you are doing a push motion. You wouldn't call a leg press a pull, would you?

Actually everything lift related is a push, so you would be. Just look it up, it's physics. No human can actually "pull" anything. Everything is a push.

What the fuck is happening in this thread
>>35353391
No, when pulling a rope you are changing the rope's position relative to your body. It is getting closer to you, therefore it is a pull. With the deadlift, when you squat down and take the weight, while performing the lift, the weight doesn't get closer or further away from you. The only thing that changes position relative to your body is the ground. And since it is moving away from your body it is a push motion.
>>35353374
No, you're pushing the floor away from the box. The box isn't getting closer to your body during the exercise, only before the exercise when you squated down to grip it.
>when somebody The Pull in the squat rack

Jesus christ, why is it so hard for you idiots to understand that the deadlift isnt a pull.
>>35353922
Probably because its both
>>35353870
So bench press is as much a pull exercise as it is a push one. Gotcha.
The deadlift is basically a slow-motion, low intensity, weighted vertical jump. If you were to stand and vertical jump, you aren't pulling yourself into the sky, you're pushing yourself off the ground.
>>35353965
Are you exerting force upon the weight to bring it back to your chest? No, moron.
>>35353922
Deadlift is a push retard. This is day one shit
>>35353701
actually all of our motions are our muscles pulling so everything is a pull
>>35354011
Read it again, tard
>>35353216
huh never though of it that way
isn't it kind of both though?
you push with your legs but pull with your back?
>>35353711
Lifting is not exclusive to the gym.
For example, nurses have to learn proper form to pick up something as small as a pen.
>>35354083
Most of them have no trouble lifting a fork though.
>>35353737
fucking lold at 02:21
>>35353701
It's funny because that's the exact opposite of how our muscles work. They can only contract or relax.
>>35354083
I understand your point but not your example. Nurses need to learn proper form to lift a pen? What exactly does that mean? What is proper pen lifting form and what might be the consequences to incorrect pen lifting form? I'm not trying to give you attitude here, because you're absolutely right, form is important in offices and on farms, in hospitals and on the road, for many tasks in many jobs, I just don't get the pen example, specifically.
