So yesterday I broke my ankle, and I'm pretty annoyed since it means I can't lift.

However, is it okay to do non-machine based exercises like push ups, sit ups, crunches, lats/abs etc, if I'm not putting direct pressure on the ankle?

Or should I just suck it up and hold off until it heals?

Stress travels throughout the body bro. Your going to delay the healing process.
Lifting while taking pain meds isnt really a good idea either.
You'd be surprised at home much stability your ankle offers even on exercises where the legs aren't involved.
Tldr. Don't workout if your really messed up. Take it slow.

It doesn't even hurt that much.

Can I at least do push ups...?

Last time I checked your ankle doesnt affect your upper body

doing pushups would definitely affect your ankle.
A lot.

You dont do bitch pushups on your knees do you?

Come one man. Think about it. You gotta use your ankles for push ups at least to keep you stable. Even on a bench you use your ankles to keep you from falling over.
But if your not gonna listen, then go to the gym and feel out what you can and can't do. Don't get your hopes up.

Ask your doctor you fucking idiot

No doctor, I live in America and I am poor.

Okay, I'm stubborn but I'm not that stubborn. I won't do push ups. What upper body exercises can I do, sans equipment, that won't affect my ankle?

None you fucking retard. Are you trolling us?

No. I just really like to work out. Can you blame me?

Fine, I won't.
