There are people.
Right this very moment on /fit/ that unironically don't do farmers walks.
There are people that either neglect their forearms or do wrist curls.

Farmers walks changed my life and literally became my favorite exercise after the first time I did them.

You need thick forearms to balance heavy loads.
This helps with bench and OHP.
It's also helped develope my calves and blow up my deadlift.

This workout is magic and I bet there are people that will talk shit about this glorious lift.
>>
>>35211432

Farmers walks never did shit for my deadlift. Or my calves for that matter.

Fun exercise though.

>tfw gym does not have the room or equipment to do farmers walks
It really is a terrible feel, I want to do them so bad

Why lift when it's all about the face?
>>
>>35211442
As for my deadlift I can go heavier while keeping a normal grip instead of over/under.
The grip gains are real.
>>
>>35211453
Don't open that can of bait in my thread bruh
>>
I don't even work out I just come here to get motivated
>>
>>35211456

I've never had much trouble with grip on my deadlifts, although a lot of that is probably down to having stupidly large hands - I can get my fingers all the way round an axle (just barely) and hook grip most farmers handles.
>>
>>35211432
Literally so many countless things that I could name that you could use your grip strength for other than farmers walks.

Its like training your biceps before you do pull ups or some shit.
>>
>>35211447
My gym was closed for a week.
It was terrible.
When I got back they added about 40 feet of turf/fake grass.
And kettlebells with handles almost as thick as beer cans.
The heaviest is 106lbs so I'm doing 212lbs farmers walks.
Sooner or later I'm going to outgrow the weights but I can always just keep pushing the distance.

Cmon bro. That's like saying your gym only has enough weight to put 1pl8 on a barbell, but you can keep pushing reps.

Look up all the muscles farmers walks work.
Now let's see that literall countless list of other shit that does the same as loaded carries such as FW.

I love farmers walks
>>
Better use correct form or you'll fuck your supraspinatus up. I know from experience.
>>
>>35211432
forearmlet over here, I started lifting 2 years ago as a skelly, went from 60 kg %18 to 71 kg %12 currently.
I've done farmers walks for the first 1.5 years consistently, but my forearms didn't grow one bit, their circumference at the widest point is 28cm which is absolutely shit. my max deadlift on the other hand, was 4 plates 6 months ago. so in my experience, farmers walks don't make your forearms bigger, only your grip stronger.
>>
>>35211432
Farmer walks are for people too weak to do single-handed dead hangs from a pull up bar.
>>
>>35211432
where's that ass pic of his
>>
where do you even do farmer walks
>>
>>35211772
On a farm.
>>
>>35211719
you could get more weight out of a set of oly dumbbells, anon.
>>
>>35211447

Just pick up heavy dumbbells and walk back and forth in front of the dumbbell rack.
>>
I started doing these. I honestly thought it would be a good addition to leg day but I feel it in my grip more than anywhere else.
>>
>>35211432
Anybody got a recommendation for a good set of handles as a Christmas present to myself? The ones from MDUSA look pretty nice.
>>
>>35211730
what's the correct form? shoulders down and back?
>>
>>35211950

Shoulders down, chest out. You don't really want to retract your shoulders like you would if you were benching.
>>
>>35211935

That's where you should feel it. Also if you do them one-handed they're great for obliques.

why do people assume that everybody's a future cripple, aka powerlifter if he looks good and makes youtube videos?
>>
>>35212097

If 110lbs/hand represents an actual farmers walk worth doing for you, you're practically a cripple already.
>>

Read that as engorged muscle penis and scratched my head for a second somewhat confused.
>>

Already got tendinosis in mine, avoid farmers walks?
>>
>>35211432
I want to do farmer walks to train grip strength, as I really don't want to start doing mixed grip on my dedlift. Gym doesn't have enough barbells and the dumbbells don't go high enough though.
>>
>>35212712
Hold multiple dumbbells in each hand
>>
>>35212712

You will need mixed grip (or hook) on your deadlifts even with farmers training. I've got a pretty good farmers walk and I still need either for heavy pulls.
>>
>>35212721
How? The weight part of the dumbbell is already pretty big, there's no way I can hold 2 in the same hand
>>
>>35212725
I recently started, but my main block on the deadlift is that my hands are too small for hookgrip (handlet) and my grip is already giving out at a 95kg/210lbs deadlift. I understand I eventually need hookgrip or mixed, but I'd rather go higher on normal grip first

>>35212762
The heavier dumbbells at my gym have ridiculously large weights for some reason, looks like you can't cross them over like that. Might work with lower weights.

But do you still train grip strength if you have to do some kind of claw grip to hold the dumbbells?
>>
>>35212742
So increase reps.
Hold the weight in hand for longer.
Do bodyweight hangs -from pull up bar - for extended periods of time.
Do towel grip pull ups.

And for your dl in the meantime just mixed grip, so you can keep that training up. Or do as many reps double overhand, then complete reps mixed.

The point of all this effort is to be a better you. If there is a weak-link in your chain, fix it.
>>
>>35212817
Thanks for the suggestions
>>
How can I work them into ss? I used to do them before I started and enjoyed it but I don't want to fuck with my deadlift recovery
>>
Why the fuck do dyels go so crazy about farmerswalks? Unless you're doing actual strongman comps they're needed, but otherwise Deadlifting is plain better.
