My personal rule is that if you're sick enough to miss work/school you shouldn't lift. Otherwise, just take it easy.
I always workout if I'm ill. It makes me feel a lot better and gets me over the illness faster. I wouldn't advise you though since you obviously don't work out at home. Stay at home and spare everyone your illness.
