the Bible and the Qur'an both state that Monasticism was not prescribed to humans by God.
It was made up by pompous people to make themselves feel better - to give themselves a sense of false humility by neglecting their bodies - proof that Catholics don't even read the Bible..

Of course, self restraint and good judgement is key, or else you'll probably get sick/STD's.
But it doesn't mean you should abstain from sex completely and turn yourself into a bitch.
