How'd you get it? Genetics ?

I've been lifting for 4 years and always been a tiny bit worried about getting one. Never had one though.

My uncle is 50 and got a hernia and is prepped for surgery now. He got it just doing yard work.

I've heard it's mostly genetic.

I had a double inguinal repair, and was told to go back to barbells ASAP with the only caveat being "If it hurts, stop."

does surgery make you less likely to get it in the future?

I always thought having strong core muscles can prevent it, but Scooby had a very strong core when he got his hernia
