I recently started supplementing with vitamin D3, vitamin K2, and a multivitamin.

I also eat leafy green vegetables almost daily.

I'm wondering if I'm overdosing certain vitamins.

On average I'm getting about 600-800% of the RDA of vitamin K through eating green vegetables. I also get an additional 6000% through supplementation.

I consistently hit over 300% of the RDA for vitamin A.

In addition my vitamin D3 supp provides 1000 IUs which is 250% of the RDA dor vitamin D.

Am I overdosing? How much is too much? Do I need to "cycle off" certain supplements occasionally?

Pic not related obviously.

>On average I'm getting about 600-800% of the RDA of vitamin K through eating green vegetables. I also get an additional 6000% through supplementation.
Maybe take it down a bit if you want. I haven't seen anything about negative effects from taking too much K though

>I consistently hit over 300% of the RDA for vitamin A.
If it's beta carotene then don't worry about it. A single carrot has that much Vitamin A.

>In addition my vitamin D3 supp provides 1000 IUs which is 250% of the RDA dor vitamin D.
1000 IU is fine.

Why do you think you need D3, K2 and a multivitamin? D3 your body makes from sunlight. Go out in the sun. In the winter, your body will pull it from fat stores. Why K3? Really? Multivitamins are a waste of money.
>>
>>35080204
Do you know how much you would have to consume for negative effects to occur?
>>
>>35080337
It's not so much about consuming a lot in one go (though that could cause other negative effects) but using it frequently over a long time period.

You need like 5 grams to overdose on K which is really a lot. Your nose would probably clog before you could do it all deesu.

The thing about olney's lesions was bunk but that shit will still fuck you up if you use long term.

Everything I've read says that it's great for bone and cardiovascular health.

It helps your bones absorb more of the calcium you consume and helps prevent artery hardening.

My family has a history of heart disease so the latter is important to me.

I do 15000 IUs of D3 and 25000 IUs of A every morning. Works well.

Keep in mind that daily FDA recommended values are bullshit. Theoretically they're the minimum you need to function. But then you look at things like potassium, where the most you can legally put in a supplement dose is 99 mg, which is only 3% of your supposed daily requirement.

All perfectly fine bro

K2 is so important for testosterone production and bone health (absorbtion of calcium)
D3 is about as important as they come. It regulates over 1000 body functions
Maybe drop the VIt A supplement. Not too many people are deficient. Eat lots of meat and green leafy vegetables and you will be fine on vit a (I am assuming you already do)
>>
>>35081131

I'm on 10000 d3 in winter. Helps me stave off the winter blues.

I eat three decent size carrots every morning for that vit à and the skin gains.
Then I take 50mg zinc and 400mg mag citrate every night. Raging boners, high libido, good sleep.

Stopped taking fish oil because its total bullshit. Pufas ain't good for you. Sat fats all the way.
>>
>>35078230
Google the DRI for any vitamins you may question your intake on. This will let you know the minimum, optimum, and max you should take of any vitamin.
>>
>>35081356
>Stopped taking fish oil because its total bullshit. Pufas ain't good for you. Sat fats all the way.

To my knowledge PUFAs are only bad for you because most PUFAs contain a bunch of omega 6. I haven't seen anything that says omega 3 is also bad for you.
>>
>>35078230
I've taken 10,000IU vitamin d3 daily for the last 3 years and I've been fine, altho my vitamin D levels were about 1/10th of what they should've been when I got tested. A year of 10,000 a day and they were at 7/10ths of ideal. So I guess I'm prolly propa now.
>>
>>35080329
Multivitamins are extemely useful.
They are unbelievably cheap, costing roughly 5 cents or less per pill.
While a lot of the vitamins you will generally pass if your body doesn't actively pull them out at the moment. You keep a lot of the minerals.
If you take a multivitamin once a day, you are spending 5 cents to ensure you pull some level of nutrition out of them.

>le multivitamins are completely wasteful may may.
>>
>>35081570
An abundance of omega 3-6/monosaturated/polysaturated/transfat/saturatedfat is bad for you.
The problem is you are a lot less likely to have an abundance of omega 3 in your diet as an average human on the planet right now. since omega 6 is in most first world foods.

Take islanders that only eat fruits/fish/nuts
Sure they look skinny as hell because of a high omega 3 polysaturated diet.
They also generally do not bulk ever because they don't get a lot of high density fat or protein.
In a perfect world your fat supplies daily would be 60% omega 3, 40% omega 6
Too much omega 3 causes blood thinning and prevents clotting which is mandatory for closing off certain portions of the body to neutralize viruses/bacteria/or in general do maintenance.

The levels needed are insane though.
to quote
>"To answer your question, the short answer is no, you cannot take too much omega-3s. There is, however, one exception, for individuals who take anti-coagulant drugs or have blood coagulation problems. They probably should avoid fish oil supplements since omega-3s can affect blood clotting. Very high intakes of fish oil/omega-3 fatty acids (termed "Eskimo amounts" by the National Institutes of Health, in reference to diets that consist almost exclusively of fish) may increase the risk of hemorrhagic stroke and have been associated with nosebleed and blood in the urine.

Andrew Weil, M.D."

>Everything I've read says that it's great for bone and cardiovascular health.

It does. Taking D3, K2 and a high calcium diet is a good way to become a textbook case of supplement induced hypercalcemia. Drop the K2. Keep taking D3 if you live far north/south of the equator.
>>
>>35081131

Do you even know what vitamin K does? Retards like you talking about stuff they dont know shit about

First of all, vit K is needed for the production of trombocytes. The things in your blood that make it heal wounds. By overdosing on vit K your body will produce too many of these and as a result your blood will become thicker

guess what haplens when your blood becomes thick

Pharmacist here didn't read all the replies but which form of K2 are you taking k2 and how many mcg/mg? K2 isn't found in vegetables only K1 so you need to separate your RDA for the two. D3 works well with K2 as you appear to be aware depending on where you live you can easily take between 5000-10000iu no problem i.e. more sun take a little less new england for example take more. Vitamin A is incredibly difficult to calculate RDA for because it comes in so many forms and the nutritional labels don't take into account the way it is absorbed and metabolized so you may think you're getting 300% and actually getting substantially less. High dose vitamin A will kill your liver eventually but I don't remember the tolerable upper limit off the top of my head. See http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/mic/vitamins/vitamin-A#RDA for a better understanding of calculation of actual vitamin A intake. No you don't need to cycle any of those but since they're all fat soluble you should get some bloodwork done just to establish a baseline level and then maybe get it redone in 6 months to a year. RDAs are the absolute minimum a person should have instead of an adequate amount like the name suggests you need over the RDA especially if you're lifting.
>>

The one I'm taking contains 5 mg of K2 as MK4.

you should try to get both MK4 and MK7 but 5mg is a pretty large dose on that MK4 they've done studies to at least 45mg that i'm aware of in elderly patients.
