I wouldn't actually be that surprised. I work in fast food, and a lot of the latino men and women who come in are short and fat; I realize that almost all of them grew up in Mexico or further south, though. Looking into it, the only numbers I could find were on Wikipedia; average height for latinas in the US is almost 5'3", average height in Mexico is just over 5', and the average height for women in the US generally is 5'4". Only issue with your logic is that my girlfriend looks straight-up native american, and is about 3/4 nativa according to 23andme. So I doubt it's the nahua blood keeping anyone short.
