I wash my hair no less than once a week. I simply go to sleep with a durag and then apply moisturizer and lotion in the morning. It take two to three days after I've washed my hair for there to be any softness and for the shrinkage to stop. My one problem is hair that's long at the top and short at the back and sides because of my sleeping pattern. 24h before use:
- Do not comb your hair out thoroughty, maybe go through it with your fingers.
- Wash out all hair-products.
- do NOT scratch scalp.
Protect the skin around your hairline with vaseline (including earlobes). I think the box includes some precautionary articles as well.
Make sure you have the shampoo stand-by and ready to instantly use. Something like a jar for the shampoo could come in handy. I tried to open the little package of shampoo in the shower and it kept sliding out of my fingers. I bearly kept calm. Also, if you're going wash your hair in the shower, do this shit as nekkid as possible.
During treatment:
Don't let your scalp burn for longer than 1 minute. >Officially you should keep working the product through your hair until you see an 's-pattern'.
You can use a wide-tooth comb to spread the cream evenly, but don't force the comb through your hair. As time passes, your hair gets easier and easier to comb with.
Wash the cream out first before you start shampooing.

I have long hair. I usually just brush it while I'm in the shower. I'm pretty tenderheaded too so I just hold the ends really tight and brush them out, then I move my hands up a few inches and do it again. It still kind of hurts up towards the top but there's no escaping that.

Opposite of tender headed, but that's exactly how I detangle mine, too. Before I rinse my conditioner, I hold it tight, (I have a massive side cut, so it's not too much volume, you might want to part it in two and detangle half at a time) and detangle from the bottom up, an inch at a time. I use a boar bristle round brush, wide tooth combs grab too much whereas the bristles can let go easily.
