Attn fuccbois: The One and Only Big Juss is the only dude in the history of humanity who ever gets fucking pass for wearing Supreme
Y'all else are still on the chopping block
>>9658404
nah i just dont think theyre real im sorry, like yung lean but not even swaggy
>>9658415
White people? Rapping? They must be children!!!!
Cuck detected. I bet you want them to fuck your girlfriend, huh?
>>9658434
>implying wearing Supreme makes you effay
>>9658441
It's worse than sin
>>9658436
They are pretty fun, i just saw their gig when they were here in the west coast. I usually listen to baroque or renaissance music but when i'm feeling goofy i like to listen to them.
Oh shit I forgot about Gravediggaz
My bad
>>9658415
But they both make hip-hop and are relevant today
Born in the wrong generation amirite? xD
>>9658437
Since Brother Ali ghostwrites all of your favorite hip hop songs you might wanna rethink that mindset
>>9658528
Run the Jewels
Foreign Exchange
Va to the Kill
Anything produced by 9th Wonder
Anything released by Duck Down
You're listening to the wrong stuff
>>9658528
drake is good though
>>9658528
>>9658541
You're literally what is wrong with hip-hop today, just because it's not pure backpacking 'lets rap about my third eye for 10 minutes' doesn't mean that it's not enjoyable to listen to
You're entitled to your opinion but just accept that it's not your thing rather than calling it trash, sometimes your views aren't the be all and end all yaknow
Also Drake is most definitely effay
>>9658551
No.
>>9658557
yes
fuck shitty afrocentric 90's backpack rap
>>9658555
If you listened to alot of rap, hiphop from all eras drake wouldn't be on your list at all
Hes corny as hell
>>9658515
Racism isn't effay, please go back to your containment board
>>9658569

XDDDD
Drake is a corny ass nigga
Lmaooo
He's not even black looooooool
>>9658569
I wont pretend i'm the most well versed in pre-2000s rap but i've for sure had a look at the essentials and really like it
Buuut styles change and as society changes the music also has to
Drake is a top 5 for sure, he's the biggest rap artist of today for a reason
Smc Hoodrats
Damn
>>9658572
What.
You don't have to be black to rap. Look action bronson ,shady ,logic.
Drake is corny .
No-ones posted travis yet smh
>>9658587
He was taking the piss mate
>>9658588
I've never heard of the hip hop group Travi$ Scott
>>9658587
what does corny even mean in this context
Travis is finna do big things, rodeo is gonna slap
>>9658570
speak for yourself i'm out here head to toe in ann dem

>>9658596
He's practically in a group with Young Thug atm, they're touring and planning on releasing a collaboration project soon
My bad though
>>9658579
Your top ten's top ten isn't good enough to even shit on
Who cares if a rapper is making sound scans? Public opinion is fucking pointless; everybody is stupid
Big Willie Style sold more records than The Minstrel Show, but which album resonates further
Oh wait it is Big Willie Style...my bad
>>9658579
Your right styles do change but being famous doesnt make you "good" .look at macklemore
i'm not hating on the guy hes getting money and thats whats up. Im just saying hes not a good rapper. Like his word choice topics and weak delivery ( he has his moments tho)
>>9658607
Yeah a collab album with features from RHQ and Kanye would be cool in the future
>>9658612
I don't remember telling you my top 10
The others could be in the realm of cannibal ox and ghostface killah for all you know
Don't get me wrong i respect classics but it's not reasonable to discount the whole of modern popular rap just because it's popular and doesn't fit your personal view of hip-hop
>>9658641
I
I like modern hip hop
But only a very narrow degree
It's like with everything else: most hip hop is terrible
But a tiny bit of it is incredible
That new Can O is good btw
>>9658613
why would you judge Drake off his rapping alone
>>9658654
What modern hiphop do you like? Do you only listen to hiphop?
>>9658654
Hey you're entitled to your opinion mate
No matter how many times you call it terrible i'm gonna continue to enjoy my wide range of tastes because that's what makes me happy
Being positive is a good thing, damn i'll check it out i've heard differently but i'll give it a go
>>9658613
I'd argue that there's more to the genre than pure rapping ability
Fuck it even rapping is only a fraction of what hip-hop originally was
>>9658541
I never said about not liking modern hip hop just that those 2 posted before are absolute fucking trash.
>>9658551
I don't agree, really just the first example that came to my mind though, I have no issue with his music or anything.
>>9658555
Again I don't hate modern hip hop, and I actually like all kinds of rap just that the ones posted before are shite.
>>9658661
I'll just list the fucking chronology of my hip hop knowledge
Picked up The Bake Sale at Target in 08 cuz the cover looked awesome
Then I remembered hearing about a rapper a few years earlier named Murs
Heard Phonte rap on the last track from Murs 3:16 the 9th Edition so I started listening to LB and Foreign Exchange
Tried finding a copy of the minstrel show and eventually bought it from a distributor on eBay (Molemen Records)
Bought Worst Fears Confirmed at the same time after reading about it
Whole thing spiraled out of control and I started listening to EVERYBODY in Midwest underground hip hop
Mostly listen to punk and hardcore though
drake is arguably the most technically gifted of this generation but inarguably one of the blandest
also he is not fashionable at all
apparently he copped a shit ton of wtaps at supply in Sydney purely because kanye doesn't wear it atm
>>9658587
YEAH THEY ARE ALL TRASH
Y
>>9658683
I've never heard of most of those.
I usually listen to modern hip hip and experimental.
>>9658197
Absolutely
>>9658528
Literally old man yelling about young kids, why dont people ever realise they're wrong about this shit.
>>9658701
>raff simmons
>>9658704
>Literally old man yelling about young kids
But there are actually good new hip hop coming out all the time, das just shite tho
most pre-2000 hip hop is overrated 'muh golden era' tripe.
*Cough* A tribe called quest *cough* Nas
>>9658711
What is popular is going to define the generation and no amount of denial will change that. There is something to appreciate in any massive movement in music just learn to love it.
white people cannot listen to rap because they were raised with no rhythm culture or flavor
>>9658721
>What is popular is going to define the generation and no amount of denial will change that
The fuck are you talking about no one has "denied" that
>>9658717
maaaaaaan the tribe isn't overrated
>>9658726
Racism isn't effay
>>9658727
You sound like you're renouncing popular hip-hop as a lesser art by claiming that relevance and popularity hold no bearing on the value of an artist.
>>9658693
Cool Kids was awesome when I was 19
A Little Bit Cooler: song turned me into a clothing snob
>>9658734

>>9658749
Kinda, obviously history has shown that the birth of all modern popular music is rooted in black culture but there's no reason to be so divisive about things.
>>9658708
fuckin' tell me they look bad, you know they're killing it.
>>9658789
They don't look good for as much money they are making .
Anyone know where i can get a sleeveless NWO shirt?
>>9658795
If monetary worth was equatable to appearance then we'd be seeing a lot more well dressed celebrities. As it stands I think they look pretty good.
>>9658721
"When I think back on 2015, drake doing some forgettable tour and a new music video are the first things that come to mind"
What is popular now will not define our generation
Nobody has any idea what will define our generation
>>9658597
I've been wondering the same for quite some time.
>>9658380
Would've never thought I'd see them on /fa/ lmao
>>9658811
Im not saying drake has the lasting power of decades but he is contributing to present day culture meaningfully regardless, and is incredibly interesting if you actually take the time to understand what his music is in its place in culture right now. Artists that are popular for a few months have almost no impact, but anyone who has lasted as long as drake undoubtebly has merit.

>>9658865
Big shot on the east coast
>>9658887
Sure so I listen to that too, but popular music is pretty intrinsically tied into the culture that gave birth to it so when it comes to any pop music I don't usually look back further than the eras that i've experienced.
>>9658883
Why are you so insecure, anon?
This is a serious question we'll work through your issues together

On like
So much great hip hop
The first time I heard Don't Curse (Heavy D featuring Kool G Rap, Grand Puba, CL Smooth, Big Daddy Kane, Pete Rock, and the almighty Q Tip), all I could think is "can any rapper alive today put together so much talent on one track, THEN tell them that they have to rap about not cursing....oh and it's a party rap joint on top of that? Probably not.
These niggers
>>9658829
Oh and Drake's favorite rapper is Phontigga, a CONTEMPORARY, so get your shit straight and listen to The Yo Yo by LB
>>9658924
>>9658916
I think I should phrase this differently, I do listen to old hip-hop, just like I listen to older everything, I seriously appreciate so much music. But when I want to listen to pop music for its original intended effect, to get the impact of its socially reflective qualities, I can only find get that from modern stuff.
>>9658924
would you really party to 'Don't Curse'
>>9658966
I mostly bring out HiNRG....and Age of Plastic
>>9658977

>Drake is corny .
"The next real literary “rebels” in this country might well emerge as some weird bunch of anti-rebels, born oglers who dare somehow to back away from ironic watching, who have the childish gall actually to endorse and instantiate single-entendre principles. Who treat of plain old untrendy human troubles and emotions in U.S. life with reverence and conviction. Who eschew self-consciousness and hip fatigue. These anti-rebels would be outdated, of course, before they even started. Dead on the page. Too sincere. Clearly repressed. Backward, quaint, naive, anachronistic. Maybe that’ll be the point. Maybe that’s why they’ll be the next real rebels. Real rebels, as far as I can see, risk disapproval. The old postmodern insurgents risked the gasp and squeal: shock, disgust, outrage, censorship, accusations of socialism, anarchism, nihilism. Today’s risks are different. The new rebels might be artists willing to risk the yawn, the rolled eyes, the cool smile, the nudged ribs, the parody of gifted ironists, the “Oh how banal.” To risk accusations of sentimentality, melodrama. Of overcredulity. Of softness. Of willingness to be suckered by a world of lurkers and starers who fear gaze and ridicule above imprisonment without law. Who knows."
>>9659073
As someone looking at this conversation from the outside, it definitely looks like you were implying that. Just own up to it, you look like a douche responding the way you did.

He's incredibly boring. He raps over the easiest beats, usually samples dad music. The only time he's somewhat decent is when he's ripping off guys like Kendrick. I can't think of a more corny rapper, he's the kind of guy some white kids in college say "man this guy is REAL music!" I can't help but cringe when I listen to him.
