i got it to celebrate the life of a close friend who had passed away and i was pretty overcome with blinding grief at the time. he had a gypsy moth (in a completely different style) hand tatted. in hindsight, it was a pretty rash decision, but i definitely havent regretted it in the slightest

irezumi has been timeless since its inception back in the edo period when woodblock printers were some of the 1st tattoo artists and would use the same or similar tools they used for doing their woodblocks with and would do designs similar to the the tattooed hero's portrayed in the woodprints at the time

Art's art, and this style of art has meaning's that i can relate and strive to, like determination, and tenacity, strength, and courage
and as an artist i get bored of things easily so the only way that i can have a tattoo is if i can relate to it and have a connection with it, so its not just a fashion piece that ill eventually get bored of, it has to mean something to me
ive been a fatass my whole life and was always picked on and never had any respect and the last few years ive been trying to shed that fat and build a body that i can respect and demands respect, and when i have that body that im not disgusted looking at in the mirror is when i'll i get my tattoos as a way of solidifying my new version of me, that isnt a fat wimpy pushover and is happy with life

pretty corny, but if you like it that's all that matters. a circular design would translate a lot better on your shoulder or chest. this tattoo will also be a really easy one to fuck up with all the detail and negative space and has a high risk of looking awful.
research intensely about the tattoo artists in your area or around you and comb through their portfolios. don't skimp, you get the tattoos you pay for.
