Not seen one in a while other than that everlane thread.

Been thinbking of copping pic related, APC x Everlane as just want a chill backpack for going around town in and back and forth to work, not looking for huge size, just to fit a notepad, tablet and a5 folder

How does Eastpak hold up in terms of quality? Ive heard mixed reviews regarding the build quality of them
>>
>>9633677
Eastpak backpacks are cheap and come with a 30 year warranty. I have a black denim one, the build quality is probably on par with the price I paid for it. They're nice and simple too and hold plenty without being gigantic.
>>
What's a good summer backpack with a laptop pouch? I have a Fjallraven Kanken that I really like but now the weather is a little warmer, the waterproof material on my back really makes me sweat.

I own the right one in your pic OP, holds up pretty well so far, better than the other Eastpaks I had.
Though you always gotta worry about the zippers.

It's a very good backpack, it's looks a little odd when it's filled with too much things though.

I need a messenger bag (on train its more convenient because i can just turn it and put on my lap rather than take it off) I want one that is dark and looks kinda distressed any ideas?
>>
Anybody have that backpack infographic?
I think it might have been for techninja shit, but it had a ton of awesome packs.

>the usability

What is it that you can do with this bag that you can not do with a normal backpack?

>shoulder straps looks uncomfortable
>weight will kill your shoulders long before you need that breast strap
>guessing no padding in the back. hard objects will hurt your back
>compression straps on the side seems to be too narrow to do much actual compression
>top of the bag is retarded. How wet will your shit be?
>too small to use for carrying laundry
>on top of it's very low functionality it looks stupid
>I bet it's expensive too
>>
>>9637852
Its slav surplus, this shit doesnt get any cheaper unless your thrift shopping.

For me, the bag is the ideal size for a daypack
>WW2 mess tin (usually with food in it)
>0.7 litre aluminium bottle of water
>Spare telnyashka incase I get sweaty
>Basic hygene kit (razor, tooth burhs, deodorant, hair brush, in case I stay somewere at night)
>Could easily fit another jumper in there if im not wearing it.
>Rain cape
The side straps are designed for a 160x200 cm wool blanket and its a perfect fit.

The canvass of the bag is thick enough that it will not soak water through anymore than any other bag and the top is knot is tightened by the bags weight so no water gets in.

The straps are no hiking pack standard but for a daypack I never miss padding.
>>
>>9637862
If its cheap milsurp then that changes things a bit. I seriously thought it was some expensive designer shit constructed out of genuine pre-WWII hemp mail-bags and with leather straps tanned by hand in Japan.
Looks like something RRL could have made on a bad day.

If it's a point for you to use historic/vintage gear on your hikes then I have no argument. Do you, anon!

But if you really just want a optimal backpack for short dayhikes and aren't too worried about how effay it might be or not be - then dude... you really need to upgrade your backpack!

Doesn't have to be expensive - but it's better to actualy try it on with some weight in it instead of ordering it blind off the net. You don't carry much but 28 liters is probably a good size, leaves some room for when you need it.
>>
>>9637862
Thats pretty minimal. You should add a pair of extra wool socks to your pack. The hygene kit seems weird, how often do you actualy end up spending the night with other people right after a dayhike? Are you cruising? lol
A knife or an axe or a saw might come in handy if you intend on cooking anything. At least two ways of making fire would also be smart, if something happends and you need tp spend the night under your rain cape you'll kick yourself for only bringing wet matches.

If oure just walking around in a park or a small local wood creak you probably don't need any of this. But your pack still seems more minimalistic that it could and should be.

I use a 28L Supreme backpack almost daily innacity and regularly as a daypack out in the woods. It's pretty much the perfect size and can be strapped pretty tight/small when needed. I can't speak for the quality on Supremes backpacks in general (thought they used to be really good) - but this one from 08 or 09 is incredibly strong and is hardly showing any signs of wear after several years of use.

Also very comfortable. The back has really good padding, but it doesn't end up looking bulky and it doesn't weigh much. Good zippers too and reasonably water resistant. I have no hesitation using it when it snows during winter - but it might not hold up that good to a rain storm.

Mine is black and very discreet. But of course the boxlogo stopped being descreet a couple of summers ago, and that sometimes bothers me a bit but not enough to stop using it.

innacity it normaly carries:
>15" laptop
>external hd, mouse, etc
>sweater or jacket
>notebook
>maybe bottled wated
...and there is still room left to pick up some groceries on the way home from work.

>>9637475

Gotta get those mail forwarders

I think it looks dope but can't decide if it'll just look whack IRL with the top part
>>
>>9637367
Ofc not
>>
>>9637977
Doesn't look too bad. If the fabric is actualy waterproof theres a good reason for having it rolled up like that. Stops water from penetrating the non-waterproof zipper.

A rolltop like that has existed on waterproof messenger bags for a long time + it's sort of the same way they seal dry sacks, only less dry.
>>
>>9638007
It is waterproof, and it's leather.

I guess that makes it sort of a... designer, high-end messenger bag?

Currently considering getting this bag.
Right now I wear an old grey Dakine bag from college, it's 55L, doesn't look too bad but it is a little juvenile, doesn't always look the best and it's much bigger than I need.
This bag is $200, wouldn't mind a similar one for cheaper, though I also wouldn't mind going as high as $500 for something that's going to last me for 20 years.

That looks really nice. What brand is it?

With so much black stuff available all the time I think it's smart to gor for colored options whenever the alternative to black looks really good. This looks really really good. Like washed out Carhartt canvas. Also similar color to the brown Supreme x North Face waxed duffle bag.

If you're over twenty five I wouldn't. It's OK though in my opinion. College or university it'd probably be a decent bag if the interior is spacious, well constructed. That's what I feel is more important though. Have you looked for something with a lifetime guarantee? That's what I go for.

I use this one, Timbuk2 Spire. Lifetime service guarantee, and this thing's nice. The top flap connects with a hook into molle webbing so you can expand the backpack basically. I use it for school and the only complaint is that it's almost too deep, when I'm trying to get shit out of there I have to look inside.
