I'm looking for boots, /fa/. What kind of boots do you guys wear? Should I get some Doc Martens?
If you get Docs get the monos.
I wear the same model 1460's as your pic, but I've used a sharpie on the yellow threading and it worked surprisingly well.
You didn't specify if you need them to be practical in cold weather/snow. All I can say is that these keep my feet relatively warm (this is coming from someone who has been wearing low-cut chucks through winters so take it with a grain of salt), but the sole will cause you to possibly fall on some ice so watch the fuck out if you do end up getting them
I'm mostly thinking for everyday wear or summer outdoors boots. I like the brown leather ones, personally. Pic related

Docs are good every day/beater shoes.
In my opinion, the only colourways you should consider are the classic or mono. Docs are tacky, but in a good way, if that makes sense. Anything else will just look cheap/like shit. Ultimately get what you want and don't take a bunch of degenerate fashion nerds' advice literally
>>9531560
Look into Redwing boots, they used to be discussed around here a lot but I don't own any. People did say to be wary if you have feet larger than a US 10 as they start to look like clown shoes.
>>9531517
i dunno why everyone gets hyped on these ugly sole boots. There, I said it.
Frye boots are pretty cool.
They're usually in lots of department stores so you should be able to find them discounted somewhere.
>>9531717
My feet are size 14, bro. I'm not gonna find those in my size in a department store.
I thought the quality of Doc taildived a couple of years ago. Cheaper materials, poorer construction etc.
Looking to purchase an everyday boot myself, but something that wouldn't be uncomfortable to run in, if I had to.
>>9531478
get the life time boots that are made in england.
They migth cost twice as much but they are really worth it.
if you look after them they will last you a lifetime
Aren't Solovairs the better version of this biit for around the same price?
are you all gayfags or something?
get decent boots op, ones you won't be ashamed to be seen in
>>9533115
>implying I don't already have a pair of sweet cowboy boots
I'm looking for some lace-ups, nigga.
>>9531478
Get Some Justin's they make a lot of cowboy boots but the lace ups they do are effay af.
get 1k wolverines
awesome boots

>>9531717
does anyone own these? how do they hold up compared to other boots in the ~$300 range?
>>9531989
I found classics on their website that have life insurance, not sure what this insurance is about though, I may go with these for my next pair of Docs if it looks like a good deal
>>9531478
Yes but get the made in England ones
>>9531478
Boota as in Timberlands?
Timberlands > everything else
Need advices. Got theses one. So I was thinking about using a permanent black marker?
>>9531478
if you're under 5'10 then it looks like youre compensating for height :/
are these okay? i think im going to take the little flag off the laces; it looks silly
>>9531478
I have some 1460 Martens. Bought them two years ago in Navy Blue but they're black now because of the shoe polish.
Will be going for steel toed 11 hole Solovairs next

Flyer's boots military issues are a pretty good choice as well if you don't have 250$ to put in a pair of good boots.
Cost around 50-60 $ shipped in the US and feels like they will last for years.
>>9536512
Nice boots
W2w
I personally like this pair

cheaper alternatives to guidi boots?
>>9537729
none
>>9537729
the point of this type of fashion and brands is the way they are made. asking for "cheaper alternative" makes literally zero sense.
>>9536400
Works on the stitching, I don't know about the bottom sole though.
I have these ones, and a pair of leather / canvas combat-inspired boots that I don't have a pic of. Perhaps looking at independent retailers, not mass-produced, you can get similar price better quality that way, and they're more unique.
>>9534111
frye boots aren't worth retail
>>9539187
gross
Timbs or Red Wings are versatile and last long. Docs only look good on skinheads and girls.
I fucking hate everything about Docs. Why are these even talked about here, why not discuss some riding boots too. Fuckers.
>>9539423
eww. never seen riding boots look good on a man.

anyone who prefers these over doc martens should get off /fa/
>>9536512
I got em.
They wrinkle up pretty bad, but holy fuck they're the comfiest thing i've ever worn.
>>9534111
Those soles look like they'd fall apart after a few months of wear
anyone ever own a pair of the doc marten chelsea boots?
>>9539476
Probably right. Those are way better then docs imo though.
This is what I wear 3 times a week tho
Kinda wanna try these. More like sneakers tho

I was thinking about selling them, exact ones in pic. Size 43, offer me and maaayybee
>>9539635
oh nice, what are these?
>>9539676
Rick army boots 13 collection I think
docs are fucking hideous, they're basically the new basic bitch shoe
>all these posts about how Docs look terrible
Well fuck, I shouldn't have bought them already, then.
>>9531478
Yes. Docs are the only boots that look good with shorts. get them.
>>9539657
nah dawg, my feet are too big for that, sorry.
>>9539779
Hope you got made in England ones
>>9540472
Not worth the extra cost at all
>>9540803
Ok enjoy your Chinese made plastic shit when it falls apart in 6 months time
>>9540953
Do they still look good though? Not sure whether to buy some made in England 1460s or the Asian ones
>>9540973
I'm cleaning and polishing them often. They look fine.
Made in England is way too expensive. If you want good boots made in england, go for a pair of Solovairs.
Or just go with the asian docs. They're fine too.
>>9540987
Do you use a leather conditioner like those dasco ones ?
>>9540989
No. Only regular leather shoe polish.
>>9531478
don't get fucking docies jesus christ you'll just look like a tumblr kid.
>>9540987
On the note of other UK manufactured boots, what do people think of Grenson boots? Cost a lot but trying to find them second hand.
I recently bought some made in England 1460s and wore them for the first time today and the creasing looks awful compared to my Asian made 1461s. Regretting getting them now ;_;
don't get the hype about docs, they don't seem that great

what are those black captoes?
>>9543384
Iron Rangers. The ones next to them are Iron Rangers, too. I am thinking about getting a pair in Hawthorne Muleskinner, too.
>>9543425
Fit large
>>9543428
Every pair except the shell Alden's are a size 12. I am a 13 in regular sneakers.
Wolverine 1K probably fit the best, but the leather sole is so awful that I don't wear them anymore.
The Iron Rangers fit well after breaking in.
I regret sizing down a full size on the 875's. They are too narrow for my feet.
I probably should have gone with a 12.5 with the Indy boot, but they fit.
I went with 12.5 with the shell captoes, and they fit.
Wanted to get the Clark's Mali's in black, but impossible to find.
Anyone have any reccs for good black boots that are comfy? My feet are small (8.5 US), so its tough to find shoes in my size
>>9542115
Solovair
>>9543651
I think UO has them
>>9543450
elaborate on how the wolverine 1k leather sole is bad pls
i got 3989's from a thriftstore for like 4.99
they say made in england on the bottom
should i cut them and get new ones?
do i get the warrenty?
What is A doc alternative for a wider foot? I can't wear mine with wool socks and it is too long to size up one more.
hey guys
should i buy these or r.m williams chelsea boots
the brand of this boot is tiger of sweden
these are the r.m williams
(if you don't like either boots, i am open to suggestions trying to stay around $400-$500)
>>9544161
these ones look better, they dont have the weord pulling tabs on it, maybe a pulling tab in the back would look better
How do the 1461s fit, fellas? True to size? Or 1 size down? Gonna cop these buggers soon.
>>9544165
go with the rms
>>9544083
Don't get made in England ones if you have a wide foot, the Asian ones are made wider
>>9544260
I'm usually a 10.5 or 11 but I got my docs in a 10 and they fit perfectly
>>9544260
Depends what kind you're getting. You can size down if you're getting a rounded toe, but I got tapered and I'm between sizes so went for the half size bigger rather than smaller and they fit fine.
>>9544059
It's shitty because it offers no support, especially in the rain or on concrete. I didn't wear my 1K Miles a lot but, but I did do a lot of walking with them. Because of that, the soles have worn down, giving me little traction on smooth surfaces.
black skinny jeans are a staple in my wardrobe (male). what boots would look good with black skinny jeans?
>>9531517
They are not good outdoor boots. The tread is minimal and you will slip around easily on grass or dirt.
That being said they are kind of nice on ice or snow, especially if you waterproof them. The rubber grips way better than other tractionless shoes like vans. They were made to keep you from slipping around on a wet factory floor.
>>9544392
Lime green stilettos
>>9537771
What doesn't make sense? He's asking for a similar boot that won't cost 1k+
how do you guys like to lace your Docs? I feel like a dweeb lacing them up all the way but all of the fancy shit I see looks so contrived
>>9545098
All the way criss-cross.any other way looks retarded.
>not wearing actual work boots
