What you want is a parted, asymmetrical cut with the bangs extending down to your nose. Bangs cut at an angle or curve to be able to slick it back, sides tapered up to the occipital bone.

Well of course the officer will have an uniform made out of different material. But the regular soldiers seem to have basically the same fieldgray uniform.
Btw do you know why the officer doesn't have the white piping on the collar but the NCOs do?

They wore different shades of the material together. Period photos in color of that are really rare but it does exist. There never was a unified shade. Same with the Afrikakorps. As a matter of fact in the picture that started this discussion he's wearing an M42 tunic and M36 trousers which were worn together depending on the issue and have very contrasting shades.
Also the NCOs don't have white piping either, they have Unteroffizierstresse which signifies that they are NCOs. White piping for infantry is only on the Paraderock, not on the field uniforms. It's also on the peaked cap. The Officer there has the white piping on the collartabs that you can't really see. It's a little piece of thread in the middle.

Here. This is a paraderock with orange collar piping around the collar. The Waffen SS and Panzertruppe use it too on their field uniforms but wehrmacht only on the paraderock.
