Older North Face apparel was actually goat, but now that they have repositioned themselves to target the yuppies that don't actually use them how they were designed, so North Face has trimmed down the true technical aspects and has become way more high-margin

This is still the top tier for North Face though.

They are actually a pretty ethically and well-run company so I'm not sure if they will go full North Face, but there are better alternatives out there (Mountain Hardwear, Outdoor Research, Marmot, Arcteryx)
