I'll post some conversation pits to get this going
>>
I find the way you can just step up and off the couch instead of bumping knees while scooting around the coffee table interesting. It just makes the whole experience feel more free

I think this is an example of a conversation pit done wrong, because it lacks the easy in-out that I mentioned in my last post, but shit looks super cosy once you're seated.
>>
This one does the fireplace-conversation pit thing in a more ergonomic and visually pleasing way, but I think it's wasting space being placed dead centre in this room

I am
I don't get the idea of a "conversation pit" though. It feels... low just because you'll be lower than everything else in the room. Kinda like claustrophobia, but not really. Why not just put the couches and stuff at ground level?
>>
>>9308345
Get what you're saying, but indeed holy shit it looks cozy. Just imagine hanging out there with a close group of friends in the middle of a snow storm.

Yes pls

I find that appealing because you can just lift yourself out. I dunno it just feels like they force a mellow or something, less potential energy, but more room for growth or some bullshit like that you know?

continuing with random interiors

Yeah I felt that way until right before I posted it, when I realized that if you wanted to pee you'd have to crawl over your bros to get to the bathroom because you wouldn't want to bump the fire.

>>9308419
If you have children there'll be grubby feet on the couch regardless of where it's placed. Regular cleaning is just a part of life.

I'm a sucker for tile, but there's something little that differentiates tacky tile from well done tile, and I have no idea what it is.

Apparently this is the guest bathroom at the main YSL building or something like that.

No clue. I dream of building my own home some day so I don't really try to determine market value, because markets change and location is like 80% of the value of a home.

a 3 bedroom home in a nicer area of LA is worth a 2br apartment in a hip area of NYC is worth a 8br home in rural Texas.

Those are sleeeeek

But, and this will sound silly, I strongly associate kitchen aesthetics and food taste. It just doesn't look like a place a grandma could cook christmas dinner.

They're beautiful, but I wouldn't want to live and cook with those kitchens.

A close friend of mine has a master's house in Brussels, and is renovating his bathroom. It's been stalling however and is essentially looking like Rick's bathroom. The walls are pretty much identical. I am in shock.

I often go on reddit's /r/MaleFashionAdvice, or 'MFA'.

It's a bit more grown up than /fa/. /fa/ is more teens/young people wearing baggy black clothes like the modern rappers like Kanye West do, MFA is more for people into adult fashion - practical workwear, business casual etc. I think a lot of people from /fa/ end up on MFA once they hit their mid 20s/get jobs and things.

Had a conversation with a retailer in Copenhagen earlier today.

I can get the chair plus footrest for around $5100 if I am willing to wait 8 weeks. I sat in the chair in a showroom and it blows everything else out of the water. Eames go home. Arne Jacobsen too.

I think I just might do it. A chair like this will last 30 years if taken care of.

150 what?

Also, there are chairs with those legs from the 60's that have been sat in every day with no problems. They are solid steel. You have to be a giant tub of shit to even slightly bend them. And even then, the chair would go before the legs.

M.Arch Kansas State, but damn dude Cooper Union nice! I visited your "newish" Morphosis building, but they wouldn't let me walk around.

Pretty good education I'm asuming, since you guys are (were?) like top 10? And you've had what Ban, Libeskind, and Diller+Scofidio as graduates?

I'm hoping to get my phd at Columbia once I graduate and get my license. What patch you headed upon Grad?

Nice! Kansas is supposed to be a really good school.

I like most aspects of Cooper. The morphosis building really isn't as impressive or original as it's made out to be, and architecture students don't spend much time over there anyways. It also helped put the school in a lot of debt.

Besides the end of free tuition, it's probably one of the best schools out there, although I don't think it ever ranks high. Cooper grads are known for being some of the best conceptual thinkers out there (although a lot of them are annoying fucks who think that they're God's gift to the field because they got into Cooper Union).

Right now I'm 4th year and interning at a small firm that mostly does houses and renovation, which is pretty much my speed (although some kids in my class are interning at places like DS+R and Holl architects)

I'm not sure what I'm doing after graduation, I might just stay with my internship or at least in NY, or I might go for my M.Arch at Yale or Columbia (see you there if that's where you end up)

Cool, I always thought they'd be some architecture students here.

>>
>>9313766
I feel ya, in my opinion most buildings are over hyped in the end. Professors rave about some building being the best thing since the dome on Santa Maria del Fiore and then you go see it and it's like yeah it has nice moments but its just kinda meh.. At least my professors give off that vibe, they make it seem like unless you crafted something memorable like Crown Hall or The Kimbell, then you didn't really make good architecture which is the part of it that really pisses me off.

And I'm in my fourth year as well, but I interned over the summer for a small mountain firm in Colorado that did high end residential (think 7,000+ sq-ft) so I'm headed off the Prague this semester to study abroad.

And if you end up at Columbia and meet someone named Spencer, there's a good chance it'll be me.

>>9313900
Same, I kind of assumed some Archi's browsed /fa/ but didn't know for sure. And dang first Cooper now AA, some damn good Uni's in this thread.

why don't people who stage living areas use magnepan speakers?

is it because people don't know what speakers look like unless they're in a box with a grill on it or have exposed paper cones

you can both style and substance if you make comproises, that said thye consummer market for speakers is dominated by heresay and most people probably just buy what's most accessible to them. Dr.Dre headphones are incredibly overrated and not worth the money (bc how are they gonna make tidy profit and maintain their status if they're inexpensive?) but they're all I saw in NYC's subways not too long ago.
