Those look legitimately bad. After the point where skinheads mostly became racist fucks, their dress was codified as a uniform, where you pretty much had to wear a certain kind of jeans, one of two or three brands of boots and a bomber jacket to even be considered a skinhead.
The earlier look is much more interesting, when they still had mod influences, so you had a wide plethora of dress to choose from. You could see skinheads in suits, overcoats, penny loafers and dress trousers, while still having that rugged, streetwise appearance. Pretty much what's shown in >>9293920, there's has to be a better version of that pic.
And I think that a big part of the old school skinhead subculture was the lifestyle. You had to have a certain kind of background for that. Nowadays you'd just look like a poser.

while there is a huge overlap in uk subcultures, with people defining themselves as parts of many or none, the guys in this photograph look like they're more influenced by mod fashion than skinhead fashion.
not to say that there aren't mod skins or mods who became skins or skins who became mods or blah blah blah

i'm kind of interested more in the evolution of skinhead fashion. in the dutch countries in the depressing trash-culture early 90s it got revived somewhat in the gabber / hardcore techno scene. shaved heads, youth attitude, bomber jackets. but also newer trends like chunky athletic trainers and track-suits. definite focus on techno music and rave culture and doing drugs. and then you can see the influence of gabber fashion creep into some designers and contemporary fashions. i think that raf, especially rafdidas, don't exist without gabber. it's gotten 'smarter' with trousers and hygiene, but you can still trace the roots of the style back to skinheads.
